The Strategic Program Specialist will lead complex proposal, solution, and program development for Electrification products and services, with a strong focus on advancing ABB Electrification's presence in the data center vertical. This role will drive strategic initiatives at key accounts across all priority segments, with data centers representing a primary area of impact and innovation.

This position reports to: Director, Strategic Program

Your Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the development of complete, complex proposals for various national customers, working in close cooperation with the Strategic Segment sales team, the product line, engineering, sourcing, legal and other functions.
  • Develop cost effective and creative proposals with influence from drawings and specifications; provide value engineering suggestions; provide full packages to differentiate from competition.
  • Participates in the development of sales strategies for strategic accounts through interaction with customer's current initiatives and long-term plans.
  • Suggests the use of internal or external resources (e.g. technical, advertising and marketing) in order to provide value added services to accounts.
  • Create and execute project work plans to meet changing client needs and requirements at various customer work sites in the US.
  • Primary customer contact for week-to-week operational aspects of strategic project initiatives and scope.
    • Effectively communicate and negotiate change orders for margin enhancement.
    • Manage and analyze project profitability, revenue, margins, bill rates and utilization.
    • Effectively facilitate project status reviews with clients and internal project team & oversee all interaction with key suppliers and the ordering of materials for the project.
    • Coordinate and own the outcomes for project & program execution, facilitating factory capacity and leadership support.

Your Background:

  • Engineering degree from an accredited university or college with 4 to 8 years of technical experience.
  • Leadership experience working with global and local teams and interacting with senior management.
  • Deep technical understanding of 3-phase AC power systems including, but not limited to: medium and low voltage switchgear, medium and low voltage motor control centers, switchboards, panelboards, and ancillary electrical distribution products.
  • Solid technical understanding and field sales experience selling power monitoring and control software, associated metering and communications systems, electric vehicle chargers, and battery energy storage/microgrid solutions.
  • Experience with complex contract negotiations.
  • Ability to design solutions particular to the customer's needs while driving ABB products into the solution.
  • Inquisitive knowledge seeker.
  • Keen business sense and strong customer acquisition skills.
  • Strong customer negotiation and T&C (Terms and Conditions) skills.
  • Solid interpersonal and oral/written communication skills.
  • Ability and experience building relationships at all levels of ABB, our channel partners, design engineers, contractors, and end users.
  • Working knowledge of SFDC (Salesforce dot com), SAP (Systems Applications and Products in Data Processing), configuration programs with a willingness to learn new software tools.
