JOB TITLE: Machinist KT Floor Bar

PLANT/DEPARTMENT: RH & IR/Machine DIRECTED BY: Machinist Team Lead; Advisor; or Machine Production Coordinator

IMPORTANT WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

Team leaders, manufacturing engineers; welders, process, paint, tool crib, and production control

DIRECTS: None

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY:

Meets and demonstrates safety in the workplace. Leads and demonstrates safety in the workplace. Setup, enter or check routine programs and setup, adjust and operate K&T Bar to bore, mill and drill a wide variety of work where considerable skill is required to maintain a high degree of accuracy on sizes and related dimensions. Plan and make difficult setups involving the handling, aligning, and securing of large irregular work pieces and/or smaller complicated work pieces having several interrelated dimensions. May select speeds and feeds, tooling, and operational sequences for wide range of operations such as long bores, step cuts, tapers, recesses, faces, etc. Manually cycle machine to check tooling, fixture and/or work alignment, clearances, stops, etc. to program specifications, adjust bring tolerances and finish requirements to specifications. May lay out reference points and boring locations. May make setups for and instruct Machine Operators of lower classification. Use drawings, specifications, and a wide variety of precision measuring instruments. Requires a knowledge of machining practices plus an experienced background to perform work. Demonstrate the ability to meet routed hours with acceptable quality.

MAJOR DUTIES:


  1. Set up difficult parts with minimal or no assistance.
  2. Ability to run all categories of machines: basic manual, advanced manual, and tap burner.
  3. Ability to foresee problems and resolve them.
  4. Work from advanced drawings and job layouts.
  5. Machine basic to intermediate parts with a high level of quality.
  6. Ability to make all parts efficiently within guidelines.
  7. Ability and willingness to learn or run other machines.
  8. Functions as a team player with co-workers and other departments.
  9. Trains and mentors' other employees.
  10. Operates advanced crane and rigging.
  11. Identifies and builds all the necessary tools required.
  12. Perform daily OPM on assigned machine.
  13. Perform calibration of equipment as needed.
  14. Advanced math skills.
  15. Other duties as assigned.



EXPERIENCE PREFERRED/SPECIAL NOTES:

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant machining experience



PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 60 pounds.
  • Long periods of standing.
