This IT Software Developer II will perform software and report development tasks to support a variety of custom and commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) applications managed by MWD's IT Operations Application Services Team. These applications are essential for asset management, monitoring water quality, and logging events for operational and regulatory reporting within the Water Systems Operations group. The developer in this role will collaborate with senior software developers to support custom .NET web applications, design and create reports for applications like IBM Maximo, and contribute to other software development efforts as needed. The candidate must have proven experience in .NET web application development, report design and development, and a solid understanding of relational databases and Oracle SQL. The ideal candidate will be proficient in .NET frameworks such as ASP.NET Core, ASP.NET, ASP.NET MVC, Entity Framework, and Entity Framework Core, as well as experienced using the C# programming language. They will also have familiarity with developing and/or utilizing REST APls. Experience with front-end languages and technologies such as HTML, CSS, Javascript, Bootstrap, Razor, or Blazor is necessary to successfully perform this job. Knowledge of Azure, Azure Logic Apps, Power Bl, Power Apps, Power Automate, and VB.NET is preferred. The candidate must demonstrate adherence to the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and have experience using DevOps tools such as GitHub and Azure DevOps. The ideal candidate will possess strong attention to detail, be a fast learner, and show an ability to adapt to changing technologies. They will function as a team player, ready to assist with various software and report development tasks as needed throughout the team. Schedule: 44/36, Monday through Friday/Every other Friday off. Monday through Thursday 9 hours per day, 8 hours per day every other Friday. Start times are no earlier than 6 am and end times are no later than 6 pm. Hybrid: Metropolitan's current practice in this position is a hybrid work schedule. This typically includes two days a week in person and the other days remote. This is subject to change dependent on organizational needs. In addition, a telework policy is scheduled for negotiations and once completed and implemented, will provide final direction on the hybrid schedule. Degree in a related field is defined as: a Major in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Business Information Systems, or related field. Relevant experience is defined as: designing and developing reports for enterprise applications such as IBM Maximo; developing .NET web applications using frameworks like ASP.NET core, ASP.NET, and Entity Framework; and working with relational databases and Oracle SQL to support custom and/or commercial off-the-shelf applications.
