2nd Class Mechanic

First Coast Terminals provides reliable, world-class stevedoring and cargo services, safely and efficiently, with our customers and our team at the center of our operations and we are looking for a 2^nd Class Mechanic to join our team at the Blount Island Terminal in Jacksonville, FL.

In this position you will:

work in the Depot shop to support customers' equipment repairs on containers. Perform structural repairs as necessary to company equipment as well as fabricate special project items as required. Professional customer service demeanor while on the job is a must. Employees are required to express leadership qualities and maintain excellent physical condition.

Main Duties and Responsibilities Include:

• Operate equipment in a manner that is safe and efficient, report all Maintenance items immediately.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on all shipping containers using IICL standards as a guide.
• Welding and cutting extensively to repair containers with accordance of IICL.
• Cutting and Replacing Floor Wood
• Cutting and measuring; working with power tools both pneumatic and electrical.
• Receive constant supervisory direction from the Lead mechanic.
• Maintain an excellent physical condition.
• Be proficient in EAM maintenance and part management software.

The ideal candidate will have:

Qualifications (Education, Experience and Certifications):

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• IICL Dry Box credentials and AWS welding certification are preferred.
• At least two years of verifiable experience.
• Certified and proficient in operating Forklifts of all sizes.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Use of basic hand tools.
• Must be able to work independently.

THIS IS A UNION JOB POSITION. Newly hired employees shall be considered on a trial basis for a period of ninety (90) calendar days from the date of hiring. After the completion of the ninety (90) calendar day trial period, seniority shall be effective as of the original date of employment. All employees who average a minimum of fifteen (15) hours per week or more for sixteen (16) consecutive weeks will become members of the bargaining unit.
