Position Overview:

This role operates
with significant autonomy and is responsible for managing some of the most
complex and high-value client portfolios within the firm. This individual acts
as an authority in investment selection, portfolio strategy, and client
relationship management, contributing directly to the firm's asset selection
process. They independently handle sensitive and complex client relationships
and serve as a key point of contact in the CIO's absence, both within the firm
and externally. The Senior Portfolio Manager is expected to support the
professional growth of junior team members, drive process improvements, and
engage with vendors to evaluate investment products. This role requires a deep
understanding of financial markets, economic trends, and regulatory impacts,
with a commitment to continual professional growth and the ability to make
informed investment decisions across a variety of asset classes.

Essential Functions:

  • Actively participates as a key contributor to the Asset Selection Committee, providing insights based on data-driven analysis and market expertise.
  • Conducts daily securities and economic research to inform ongoing investment decision-making, ensuring alignment with firm and client objectives.
  • Monitors ratings and performance metrics of mutual funds and other investments, offering timely and independent recommendations for committee consideration.
  • Keeps updated on financial market trends, economic indicators, and regulatory changes to inform investment strategies and communicate insights effectively to the CIO.
  • Acts as a backup trader as assigned, ensuring smooth execution of transactions when needed.
  • Exercises judgment in asset allocation for assigned accounts, including equities, fixed income securities, mutual funds, partnerships, and unique assets, adjusting to non-standard allocation parameters when appropriate.
  • Collaborates with account administrators and directly engages clients to clarify investment objectives, provide guidance, and conduct periodic reviews of portfolio performance.
  • Serves as the lead author on rotational assignments for newsletters and ad hoc releases, articulating investment insights and strategies for internal and external audiences.
  • Provides coaching and training to junior team members, assisting the CIO in evaluating and fostering their professional growth.
  • Initiates and implements process improvements with CIO approval, aiming to enhance team efficiency and client outcomes.
  • Adheres to all policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Undertakes special projects as assigned, contributing expertise and innovation to further organizational goals.
  • This position may require travel within the Bank's geographic area.


Experience & Education:

  • 12+ years of professional investing experience, demonstrating a successful track record in managing complex portfolios and client relationships.
  • A four-year college degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field is required; an advanced degree and/or professional designation (e.g., MBA or CFA) is preferred and strongly recommended.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to make objective, data-based decisions with a client-centric focus.
  • Strong analytical skills and adeptness in problem-solving, with experience in securities analysis and economic forecasting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of conveying complex investment concepts to diverse client audiences.
  • High proficiency with multiple investment research and analysis tools.
  • Ability to articulate advanced investment concepts effectively to clients.
  • Proficiency in managing high-stakes client relationships with independence, exhibiting sensitivity to client needs.
  • Agile interpersonal skills, capable of interacting effectively with a wide range of client personalities.
  • Strong organizational skills, with attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with compliance and regulatory requirements in the investment management field.
  • Commitment to continuous learning, with a proactive approach to staying current on market developments and investment trends.

  • Adheres to the highest ethical standards, ensuring all actions are in the best interest of the client and organization.
  • Requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull weights or otherwise move objects weighing as much as 10 lbs. on a regular basis and/or for extended periods of time during the workday.
  • Occasional overtime or extended hours may be required.
