Jr. Staff Accountant



REPORTS TO:


Controller



PURPOSE OF POSITION:



The Staff Accountant supports the Finance & Accounting team by performing key functions such as maintaining the general ledger, payroll reporting, managing fixed assets, and evaluating monthly work-in-progress (WIP) and scrap inventory. This role also assists the Financial Controller with the month-end close process and other accounting responsibilities to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.



RESPONSIBILITIES:



  1. Owns the accounts receivable process, including posting of cash receipts, monitoring customer accounts, and performing monthly bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy and timely cash application.
  2. Maintains the general ledger by preparing balance sheet reconciliations, updating supplemental schedules, and recording related transactions within the enterprise resource planning (ERP) system.
  3. Supports the month-end close process by preparing and posting journal entries, running reports, compiling financial statements, and maintaining required supplemental data in compliance with corporate standards.
  4. Assists with credit card expense reporting by reviewing submissions, ensuring proper coding and documentation, and supporting timely reconciliation and reporting
  5. Assists with fixed asset management by updating asset databases, ensuring accurate classification, and processing asset additions and disposals.
  6. Monitors and evaluates monthly work-in-progress (WIP) inventory, investigates discrepancies, and reports issues for resolution.
  7. Analyzes and monitors weekly scrap valuation, identifying discrepancies and reporting issues as needed.
  8. Maintains accurate and complete documentation in compliance with SOX and all applicable company requirements.
  9. Adheres to all company policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance.
  10. Performs other accounting duties and special projects as assigned by the Financial Controller or in response to evolving organizational needs.


QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Must possess a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
  • Must have 1-2+ years of work-related experience in Accounting or Finance preferably in a manufacturing environment. Experience must include at least one year in cost accounting.
  • Must be able to use a personal computer and associated hardware and software applicable to position including but not limited to Microsoft Office programs-Outlook, Word, and Intermediate Excel and the company's manufacturing operating software.
  • Must have Familiarity with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.
  • Must have strong attention to detail and possess strong analytical skills.
  • Must possess strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must possess strong organizational and time management skills and be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Must have the ability to set and modify priorities in order to meet the changing organizational and team needs
  • Must be flexible in schedule including working additional hours when required.
  • Must be willing to assertively resolve conflicts, personal or work-related, when such conflict hinders the performance of the organization
  • Must demonstrate strong leadership ability and be able to interact effectively in all situations.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a drug/alcohol screening test as well as a physical examination that will assess applicable physical abilities needed to perform essential elements of the job.
