Job Description The Office of Legal Affairs, under the direction of the Senior Vice President and General Counsel, provides legal representation and advice to the University and all its constituent parts, including the Board of Trustees, the President, the Wexner Medical Center, the Office of Academic Affairs, Student Life, Athletics, Human Resources, Business and Finance, among many others. As one of the largest universities in the nation, Ohio State is a multifaceted and sophisticated institution, with a high-level and leading-edge legal practice that touches nearly every area of law, including litigation, labor and employment law, constitutional law, civil rights law, construction and public contracting, intellectual property, business transactions, real estate, tax and benefits, public safety and criminal law matters, immigration law, sports law, administrative law, health care law, and privacy matters. Under the day-to-day supervision of the Senior Associate General Counsel and Senior Associate Director of Risk Management, the Senior Clinical Risk Manager assists attorneys in the Office of Legal Affairs with investigating patient care events, potential claims and lawsuits, and monitors the event reporting system from a risk perspective. The Senior Clinical Risk Manager assists in the coordination of preventative measures and education to minimize risks to patients, staff and employees. The Senior Clinical Risk Manager serves as a departmental resource for data analysis and IT implementation. Minimum Qualifications Bachelors degree in Nursing and ARM or equivalent education and experience in risk management, and six (6) years of relevant experience. Knowledge of the principles of anatomy and physiology and application to medical conditions. Proficiency in use of computers, database management, IT Implementation and on-line research tools; effective written and oral communication skill; interpersonal skills and customer service skills desired. Knowledge of office practices and procedures and the ability to deal with issues involving several variables in a familiar context.
