As a Sr. Electrical Project Engineer within our Lighting and Lifestyle team, you will be responsible for the management of multiple projects simultaneously in the development of new and updating existing products. Project focus will be based on Milwaukee Tool Lighting Systems. Every project entails the inventive exploration of form and function with passion for the interactions between the user and the product or system. You will not only be responsible for working collaboratively with internal groups, but multiple external suppliers, designers, and vendors both domestic and international. Therefore organization, timeline management, communication, and attention to technical detail will ensure that you are successful in this role.
You'll be DISRUPTIVE through these duties and responsibilities:
- Work with cross-functional team to identify features, functions, and requirements for conceptual electronics systems
- Develop robust technical requirements and test methods for validation based on the voice of the customer
- Work with suppliers to create initial prototypes and concept models of electronics systems with an eye towards practicality and manufacturing feasibility
- Be aware of new technologies relevant to our industry and implement them when feasible. Continue to educate self with new technologies.
- Draw concise, logical, written conclusions from experiments based on data analysis.
- Be able to present technical information to cross-functional audiences
- Serve as a role model Milwaukee Tool's culture while mentoring, guiding, and coaching junior Engineers. Grow the ability to lead and manage a small team.
- Provide candid and effective communications up, down and across the organization on progress, barrier removal and escalation of business risks/opportunities
- Drive urgency in project schedules and accountability for establishing and achieving key project metrics that meet the organization's needs
- Develop and maintain familiarity and understanding of Milwaukee's development and manufacturing processes
- Work with and establish trusting relationships with engineers & suppliers throughout Asia and the world
- Be willing to provide hands-on assistance with product development from initial concept to production.
- Use laboratory equipment typically utilized in an electronics development environment
- You will need to be able to troubleshoot, perform Root Cause Analysis, and offer feasible solutions on projects under development
- Must be able to quickly identify tradeoffs and solutions to problems in a high-urgency environment
What TOOLS you'll bring with you:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar field
- 5+ years of experience in a related design field
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a hands-on attitude
- Knowledge of power electronics, control systems, and LED Driver designs and topologies
- Broad-based experience with analog circuitry and embedded systems
- Basic understanding of Firmware development and programming best practices
- Good written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, especially Excel and Power Point.
- Ability to potentially travel 10% of the time is required (travel includes Domestic and International)
Other TOOLS we prefer you to have:
- Master of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering
- Familiarity with advanced simulation tools (MATLAB, Simulink, or SPICE) and design software (Altium)
- Familiarity with mid & high-power LEDs, lighting standards, and photometric testing
- Familiarity with EMC / EMI mitigation
- Knowledge of USB-power systems and battery charging systems is useful
- Experience with portable electronics, power tools, or consumer electronics
- Familiarity with mechanical design, optics, and thermal management concepts
