Job Summary


The anticipated duration of this temporary assignment is approximately 6-7 months.

The UCSF Temporary Employment Program (TEP) recruits and hires temporary employees to provide immediate clerical and technical support across UCSF departments and off-campus locations. TEP staff often support special projects, fill in for staff on leave, or help bridge vacant roles. Many temporary employees go on to secure career or limited appointment roles within UCSF.

Key Responsibilities:

Center Administration and Operations

  • Prepare reports and analyses on operational, financial, and resource data.
  • Submit and track facilities requests and work orders.
  • Support room reservations, tech setup, and building access.
  • Contribute to the development and updates of standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Ensure compliance with policies and recommend improvements.
  • Plan and support meetings and center-related events (weekly, monthly, annual).

Osher Center Public Education Classes Support

  • Coordinate virtual and in-person classes: liaise with teachers, students, and program staff.
  • Manage class logistics: scheduling, registration, payments, cancellations, and waitlists.
  • Oversee classroom setup and supply maintenance.
  • Provide teacher support including tech assistance and schedule adjustments.
  • Draft and send communications such as emails, calendar invites, and marketing materials

Department Description

UCSF's Temporary Employment Program (TEP) recruits and hires temporary employees for immediate clerical and technical support services to UCSF Departments and various off-campus locations. UCSF departments deploy temporary employees to work on special projects, fill in for regular employees who are on vacation or leave, or to temporarily fill a vacant position during recruitment. Frequently temporary employees become successful candidates for career and limited appointment positions.

Required Qualifications


  • Solid verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking ability under tight deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of computer applications (UCSF-specific and general).
  • Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality.
  • Aptitude for following existing protocols and recommending improvements to enhance operations.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Proficiency in Spanish
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and 1-2 years of experience in clinical, administrative, or program operations, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
