Job Summary

The AV Systems Specialist manages the system-based audio-visual (AV) technology for all AV computer-based systems including but not limited to live video streaming, video conferencing, touch panels, Biamp audio programming, Dante, Crestron NVX. Programs lighting and configures AV systems for optimal performance on the AV network. The position researches and assists in the implementation of new technologies. Provides technical expertise and support for high profile and VIP special events and University functions. Reports to the Associate Director of AV/IT.

  • Performs and supervises the performance of acceptance tests on events, installations and upgrades. Verifies that all newly installed systems are in working order, meeting all specifications, and assures that regular tests are performed. Oversees the overall functionality of audio, lighting and video systems during streaming transmissions and special events requiring high level engineering support. Provides technical support to a location where a problem has been reported in a timely manner and provides both hardware and/or software troubleshooting as deemed necessary.
  • Designs and implements AV systems solutions through evaluation, procurement and deployment.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs complex audio-visual systems to ensure maximum system uptime and optimal performance for all Graham Center venues.
  • Recommends on timely and accurate procurement of required equipment for projects and events related to AV systems.
  • Manages AV Systems and is responsible for their maintenance and upkeep to maximize performance, operability and run time.
  • Liaises with Facilities Management, Building Operations and Network Services for related issues such as utilities and network that affect AV infrastructure and events.
  • Installs, configures, programs, and operates custom lighting shows for events and special performances.
  • Provides support to the Campus Recreation Center and Wolfe University Center for AV infrastructure related issues and events.
  • Oversees and manages AV Student Assistants for daily event operations. Trains and supervises AV Student Assistants in the correct use of equipment, in addition to industry and university standards and procedures.
  • Interprets departmental policies and procedures and creates training programs to ensure proper equipment operation, troubleshooting techniques, and workplace safety.
  • Advises the Associate Director on technical decisions and planning for the department.
  • Manages and updates inventory systems.
  • Performs essential duties during any emergencies, such as hurricanes, storms and/or any other University emergency closing. Is expected to be available to report to work as needed during university emergency closings with appropriate notification by department administrator.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and five (5) years of related experience; OR nine (9) years of experience in a related field; OR an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.

Desired Qualifications

  • Excellent knowledge of AV technology and equipment.
  • Sound technical knowledge.
  • Experience in Audio Visual projects.
  • Ability to perform tasks that may involve lifting and moving items up to 50 pounds, potentially with assistance or equipment.
