Job Title:	Instructor Pool - Music
Applicant Notification:	Department Information The Performing Arts department is seeking to expand its pool of part-time faculty to teach MUS (Music & Music Technology Classes) starting Fall 2025. We anticipate a need for instructors in the following areas for MUS (Music Classes): Songwriting, Music Theory, Group Classes (Piano/Guitar/Voice), Choral and Instrumental Ensembles, and Jazz History. The ideal candidate for this instructional position will embrace innovative and inclusive processes, the integration of emerging works and technology; and will be focused on the highest levels and techniques for learning and public service. Beyond the required education and experience, instructors must have a passion for what they teach and have teaching styles that support student success. Instructors are responsible for following Division and College procedures in support of teaching and learning. This is an application pool posting for 2025 - 2026. The assigned location for this position is at the Lane Community College's main campus located in Eugene, Oregon. Required QUALIFICATIONS

Required Education:	Master's Degree in Music or Music Education from a regionally accredited institution. Required Education for Jazz History only: Master's Degree in Music or Music Education including 9 quarter hours of upper division/graduate level courses in Music history from a regionally accredited institution.
Required Experience:	Required Experience: Songwriting One year teaching experience in music at high school or college level. Proficiency with essential elements of Songwriting curriculum including basic harmony, melodic construction, text setting, and song forms, familiarity with songwriting genres and styles of music, and ability to create lead sheets and charts demonstrated through peer review. Required Experience: Music Theory Two years teaching experience in one or more Music Theory core classes (Music Theory, Sight-Reading Ear Training, and/or Keyboard Skills) at High school or College level. Proficiency with essential elements of 1st year Music Theory curriculum at the whiteboard and keyboard, solfege as it applies to curriculum, and keyboard skills necessary for curriculum demonstrated through peer review. Required Experience: Group Piano One year teaching experience in piano at high school or college-level AND performance experience on piano. Proficiency in essential elements of Group Piano curriculum and high-level solo proficiency in piano demonstrated through peer review. Required Experience: Group Voice One year teaching experience in voice at high school or college-level AND performance experience in voice. Proficiency in essential elements of Group Voice curriculum and high-level solo proficiency in voice demonstrated through peer review. Required Experience: Group Guitar One year teaching experience in guitar at high school or college-level AND performance experience on guitar. Proficiency in essential elements of Group Guitar curriculum and high-level solo proficiency in guitar demonstrated through peer review. Required Experience: Jazz Ensemble/Jazz Combos Two years directing experience in Jazz or large Jazz ensemble at high school or college-level. High-level proficiency in Jazz combo/ensemble coaching/directing and playing including solo improvisation and interpreting jazz combo/ensemble repertoire and a history of organizational skills for ensemble needs demonstrated through peer review. Required Experience: Symphonic Band Two years directing experience in Symphonic band or Wind ensemble at high school or college-level. High-level proficiency in wind conducting and interpreting wind/percussion repertoire and a history of organizational skills for ensemble needs demonstrated through peer review. Required Experience: Choral Ensembles Two years directing experience in choir at high school or college-level. High-level proficiency in choral conducting and interpreting choral repertoire appropriate for ensemble and a history of organizational skills for ensemble needs demonstrated through peer review. Required Experience: Jazz History One year teaching experience in music at high school or college level AND performance experience in Jazz. Understanding of Music Fundamentals as it applies to Jazz Music demonstrated through peer review.

Position Purpose:	Lane Community College has a comprehensive music program that includes Music Technology, Music Theory, Sight Reading/Ear Training, Keyboard Skills, Ensemble Conducting (Choral/Instrumental) and Music History classes and individual lessons. Physical Demands/Working Environment:	This position works indoors and is exposed to usual office working conditions that include office noises and interruptions, such as printers, telephones, and visitors. This position requires that an employee is able to sit or stand for extended periods of time; perform cognitive and psychometric work for more than six (6) hours a day. Work may require transporting materials up to twenty-five (25) pounds. Work safely.
