*Hybrid opportunity; Work from home 2 days/week Job Summary: The Medical Billing Representative (Patient Account Services (PAS) Representative) is responsible for ensuring accurate completion of financial account maintenance activity, and providing prompt, knowledgeable and courteous customer service to patients and staff. The PAS Representative monitors assigned accounts, and ensures efficient, accurate follow-up.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintains and monitors assigned accounts to ensure prompt payments and proper billing of health plans and/or patients.
- Answers PAS phone line in a friendly, customer service oriented, and professional manner. Educates and responds to patient questions and properly documents each patient contact. Demonstrates commitment to customers, colleagues, and South Lake Pediatrics.
- Responsible for accurate data entry and distribution of patient payments, insurance receipts and denials for assigned accounts.
- Reviews and reconciles insurance payments to confirm accuracy against current fee schedules and contract terms.
- Performs insurance eligibility verifications, prepares cost estimates for self-pay patients, and assists with billing and account related questions.
- Follows pre-collection procedures for private balance accounts aged over 60 days.
- Follow up of health plan claims aged > 90 days.
- Collaborates with all South Lake Pediatrics departments.
Job Requirements
Education / Credentials / Qualifications:
- High school graduate or GED required. Post-secondary education preferred.
- Prior billing, banking or finance experience preferred.
- Medical billing experience and medical terminology knowledge desired.
Hours are within 8:30am - 5:00pm M-F, Full Time
