Shift Timing (Day/ Evening/ Night): 06:00 AM to 03:30 PM & 02:00 PM to 11:30 PM -1st & 2nd Shift (indicate shift preference on their resume header)

Duration: 12 + months

Job Description:

  • We are currently recruiting for two distinct CNC Technician roles. Below are the detailed job descriptions and the differences between the two positions.


Training & Development:

  • Initial training will be provided on first shift for a minimum of 2-3 months.
  • Performance will be reviewed at 1 day - 60 days; candidates must demonstrate aptitude and ability to succeed in the role to continue.
  • Direct hire opportunities may be available for experienced candidates within 2-3 months.


About Us:

  • Diamond Point Turning (DPT) at OCMC is an ultra-high precision CNC factory specializing in the fabrication of optical components using CNC Lathes, CNC Flycutters, and Polishing Equipment.
  • This facility operates at a level of precision far beyond traditional machining.


Job Description:

  • Manufacture precision optics and optical components.
  • Read and interpret optical component drawings/specs including GD&T.
  • Interpret interferograms, CMM reports, and other metrology data.
  • Independently set up and operate polishing equipment, lathes, fly cutters, and other manual/CNC machines.
  • Perform bi-weekly maintenance on polishing machines.
  • Use advanced testing equipment such as interferometers and coordinate measuring machines (CMM).
  • Collaborate closely with manufacturing engineering and technicians.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.
  • Job requires standing 80-90%, walking 10-20%, bending 20%, lifting < 15 lbs.


Required Skills:

  • Attention to detail and ability to follow directions.
  • Hands-on mechanical skills: disassembling/reassembling components, diagnosing issues.
  • Strong geometry and trigonometry skills.
  • Ability to work any shift, including compressed schedules.
  • Multi-tasking skills to run multiple machines in a cell.
  • Dexterity to handle delicate optical components.


Desired Skills:

  • Two-year technical degree preferred.
  • Experience with surface quality standards and inspection.
  • Machine maintenance experience.
  • Optical metrology experience.
  • Experience setting up and cutting freeform optical components. CNC G-Code programming experience.
  • Experience with Calypso or DIFFSYS programming.


Summary Of Key Differences Between Roles Shifts:

  • Optical Polishing: 1st & 2nd Shift Optical Manufacturing.
  • Cutting: 1st Shift Only.


Equipment Maintenance:

  • Optical Polishing: Perform bi-weekly maintenance on polishing machines Optical Manufacturing.
  • Cutting: No specified maintenance responsibility.


Technical Focus:

  • Optical Polishing: Polishing and finishing optical components Optical Manufacturing.
  • Cutting: Cutting and machining optical components.


Required Technical Skills:

  • Optical Polishing: Mechanical hands-on repair and maintenance Optical Manufacturing.
  • Cutting: CNC programming and cutting tool knowledge.


Experience Desired:

  • Optical Polishing: Optical metrology and machine maintenance Optical Manufacturing.
  • Cutting: Freeform cutting, G-Code programming, Calypso/DIFFSYS experience.
