Thales Defense & Security, Inc. is currently seeking an IT Operations Manager to work in our Clarksburg, Maryland Campus. This position reports to the Senior IT Operations Manager.



Responsibilities

  • Supervise day-to-day IT Operations support services and project execution while assisting with work where required.
  • Manage critical tickets (to include outages) by assigning to correct team members, creating reports, following up, communicating throughout to managers, and ensuring quick resolution.
  • Ensure the efficient utilization of IT resources - including personnel and equipment - across the organization.
  • Manage the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade, and support of IT systems, including networks, data centers, servers, PCs, operating systems, and associated hardware.
  • Demonstrate strong work ethic, adherence to deadlines, and ability to work independently and as a member of the team.
  • Partner with information security team to ensure compliance with all security requirements; ensure adherence to IT policies and best practices.
  • Manage IT staff by training and coaching employees, communicating job expectations, and appraising their performance.
  • Develop, maintain, and update capacity planning processes, tools, and documentation.
  • Responsible for ensuring backup and disaster recovery processes are up to date and executed.
  • Oversee all reports and documentation related to network and systems operations.
  • Work with stakeholders to define business and systems requirements for new technology implementations.
  • Establish metrics for IT operations performance and communicate progress to appropriate parties.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's operating policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities can include interviewing, hiring, training and developing employees; creating effective staff plans - assigning and directing work; performance appraisals, rewarding and management of employee discipline when required; and addressing complaints and resolving conflicts. Active mentoring and development of staff is a critical element of the supervisory responsibilities to create a highly performing cohesive team.



Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizenship required. - Applicants selected may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
  • 4 year IT degree preferred; or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of professional managing experience with systems administration and networking.
  • Passion for technology, emerging technology, and staying up to date on industry trends.
  • High sense of urgency and ownership with ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Experience working directly with security and application development teams.
  • Exposure to supporting and managing a Classified environment.
  • Experience supporting and maintaining a complex, multi-data center network, server, and storage infrastructure to ensure high performance and availability.
  • Effective personal organization and note taking skills.
  • Understanding of Hyper-converged infrastructure with supporting Nutanix a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; excellent listening skills.
  • Proven excellence in working effectively with managers and technical directors.
  • Proven experience in implementing process and quality improvements.
  • Experience with IT compliance, risk management and security practices.
  • Experience with change management.
  • Ability to lift up to 75lbs with or without assistance.
  • Proficient oral and written communications skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 10%.

The annualized pay range for this role is $111,440-142,395 USD along with a target incentive compensation plan (ICP) of 10%. The pay range provided is a good faith estimate representative of the experience level for the role described above. TDSI considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
