Dry Creek Landfill, a Waste Connections company, is looking for a safety conscience Environmental Technician to join our team in Eagle Point, OR! Location: 6260 Dry Creek Landfill, Eagle Point, OR Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM (Occasional Overtime required as needed.) Drug and alcohol testing: Subject to pre-employment drug testing and to random drug testing. Probationary period: 90 days. Supports landfill operations through monitoring and maintenance of landfill gas, leachate, groundwater, and stormwater systems. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES The individual must have the ability to work independently without direct supervision. The individual must be able to perform the following essential duties satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned and vary by location. * Collect and analyze environmental samples (surface water, groundwater, landfill gas, leachate). * Conduct inspections and ensure compliance with environmental management plans. * Operate and maintain environmental systems and data collection devices. * Track and report compliance tasks and environmental data. * Support meteorological station operations and reporting. * Perform routine maintenance and calibration of equipment. * Tracks compliance tasks for air and water quality monitoring. * Properly operates and maintains environmental systems in a timely and cost effective manner to ensure regulatory compliance and optimize performance. * Calibrates, operates and maintains electronic data collection devices. * Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed. * Support Metrological Station including inspections, annual audit and calibration. * Report monthly precipitation from Metrological Station. * Additional tasks as assigned. SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS * 4-year technical degree in environmental studies, engineering, chemistry, or biology or equivalent. Required * High school diploma or equivalent. Required * Valid Driver's license with clean driving record. Required * Knowledge of environmental regulations and landfill operations. * Experience with chemical lab procedures and data analysis. * Strong computer skills, especially in Excel and statistical evaluation. * Communicates effectively and consistently inside and outside the organization. * Writes clearly and succinctly. * Complies with all health and safety requirements and procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment as needed (safety glasses, boots, vest, respirator, etc.). * Ability to physically lift, push, pull and handling objects up to 50 pounds. * Ability to work outdoors. Work involves exposure to dirt, odors, noise, and adverse weather conditions. * Ability to walk over steep and rough terrain for considerable distances on occasion.
