Project Manager I - Transmission
Energy Infrastructure Project Management Team
This is a 2-year, full-time (40 hours/week), hybrid contract role based in Plainfield, Indiana. Must be able to commute onsite as needed post-onboarding.
Summary
This role supports the management of multiple transmission-related infrastructure projects, primarily categorized as White or Green I per the company's Project Management Center of Excellence standards. You'll help lead key capital and maintenance projects by coordinating planning, scheduling, budgeting, and execution across internal and external partners. Transmission experience and utility background are highly preferred.
Our Ideal Candidate
5+ years of project management experience in engineering, construction, utilities, or energy infrastructure
Passion for delivering safe, on-time, and under-budget capital projects
Proficient in scheduling, budgeting, and cost control tools/methodologies
Familiar with utility standards and project lifecycles, especially transmission systems
Skilled in risk mitigation, change management, and cross-functional stakeholder coordination
Able to work independently and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously
Flexible and collaborative with strong analytical and critical thinking skills
Strong written and verbal communication across diverse audiences
Bonus: PMP, CAPM, PE license, CMII certification, or utility-specific training
Job Description
In this role, you will manage the full lifecycle of assigned utility projects, from scoping and planning to execution and closeout.
You'll collaborate with engineering, construction, scheduling, and regulatory partners to ensure safe and successful delivery. This includes:
Leading cross-functional teams to deliver multiple active capital projects in the transmission portfolio
Creating and managing project plans, schedules, and budgets
Providing project risk identification, mitigation, and reporting
Coordinating with external contractors and internal departments (engineering, permitting, procurement, etc.)
Facilitating meetings, preparing reports, and keeping stakeholders aligned on timelines and deliverables
Maintaining accurate records in project systems and reporting platforms
Ensuring compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory guidelines
Driving onsite as needed to visit project locations (~20% travel; personal vehicle required)
Education and Experience
Associate's degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred (Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or related field)
Minimum 5 years of direct project management experience
Previous work with utilities, energy, or infrastructure strongly preferred
Familiarity with scheduling and cost control systems (Primavera P6, MS Project, etc.)
Project Management certifications a plus (PMP, CAPM, etc.)
Construction management or engineering experience is a strong advantage
Other Details
Hybrid schedule: on-site as needed after onboarding, with some remote flexibility
Must reside within commuting distance to a designated Client's Energy facility
20% of role involves field visits-personal vehicle required (no company vehicle provided)
The pay for this W-2 position ranges from $61.17 - $63.28 per hour. This position may be eligible for PTO, health and dental insurance, and/or 401(k) benefits upon meeting certain length of service and hours requirements.
