Job Overview

As the Director of Student-Athlete Relations and NIL Partnerships, you will oversee the holistic well-being of our college men's basketball team, manage external campus relationships, and serve as a liaison for navigating the Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) landscape. Your role will be crucial in supporting our student-athletes' personal and professional growth, fostering positive campus partnerships, and maximizing NIL opportunities within NCAA guidelines. The Director of Student-Athlete Relations and NIL Partnerships requires exceptional communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills, as well as an in-depth understanding of college athletics and NIL regulations. Reporting directly to the Head Men's Basketball Coach, you will work closely with coaching staff, academic advisors, compliance staff, and any third-party NIL organizations associated with the University. Additional duties include, but are not limited to:

Student-Athlete Relations

  • Develop and implement comprehensive student-athlete support programs to enhance their overall well-being, academic success, and personal development.

  • Act as a primary point of contact for student-athletes, providing guidance, mentorship, and support throughout their collegiate basketball experience.

  • Collaborate with coaching staff, academic advisors, and other support personnel to ensure a holistic and integrated approach to student-athlete development.

  • Organize team-building activities, community engagement initiatives, and leadership development programs to foster a positive team culture and individual growth.

    External Campus Relations

  • Establish and cultivate strong relationships with various campus departments, including academic services, compliance, marketing, and public relations.

  • Collaborate with campus partners to coordinate support services for student athletes, such as academic tutoring, career development programs, and mental health resources.

  • Represent the men's basketball team in campus-wide meetings, committees, and events, advocating for the team's interests and contributing to the campus community.

    NIL Partnerships

  • Stay up to date on the evolving NIL regulations, guidelines, and industry trends within college athletics.

  • Educate student-athletes on their rights, responsibilities, and opportunities related to NIL, providing guidance and support in making informed decisions.

  • Collaborate with compliance personnel to ensure all NIL activities comply with NCAA rules and regulations.

    Requirements and Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree and at least 8 years of experience in sports management, business, communications, or a related field - preference for a Master's degree
    • Extensive knowledge of college athletics, NCAA rules, and compliance guidelines
    • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills
    • Proven ability to build and maintain positive relationships with diverse stakeholders
    • In-depth understanding of NIL regulations, trends, and best practices
    • Familiarity with social media platforms, digital marketing, and brand building strategies
    • Exceptional organizational and time-management abilities to handle multiple deadlines


    Preferred qualification
    • Experience in student-athlete development, sports administration, or a related field

    Pay Range:

    The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:
    $80,429.00 - $157,238.93

    Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University's business needs and external factors.
