Business Process Optimization Specialist General Summary: This role combines business process improvement and data analysis to support smarter, data-driven decision-making. The position focuses on enhancing operational maturity and efficiency through process redesign and technology-enabled automation. The role involves assisting with the documentation, analysis, and implementation of operational processes, ongoing governance, and continued support of those processes.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with staff to document, analyze, and map current business processes, identifying areas for improvement.
- Analyze workflows, requirements, and challenges to recommend enhancements to existing processes through reengineering or automation.
- Work cross-functionally to understand business goals and data needs. Support the data enhancement, testing, design, implementation, and documentation of new or updated processes and tools.
- Develop dashboards, reports, and visualizations to support process initiatives and track departmental governance metrics.
- Manage incoming requests for new process development or enhancements. Partner with internal teams to define needs, address issues, and align solutions to departmental objectives.
- Translate user needs into clear business and functional specifications, ensure alignment between departmental and enterprise objectives.
- Assist the evaluation and enhancing of the department's technology solutions.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Knowledge at a level normally acquired through the completion of a Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Process Management, Business Analytics, Data Analytics or related field of study.
- 0 -2 years of internship or project experience in business analysis, data analysis, process development and improvement.
- Strong analytical, communication, and critical thinking skills.
- Experience with Excel, SQL, Python, R, Power BI, Tableau or other analytics, automation, and reporting tools.
- Familiarity with process improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma), generative AI, and large language models is desirable.
- Experience working in the financial services industry and a general understanding of financial industry systems and practices is highly preferred.
- Must be detail-oriented and highly self-motivated.

Working Conditions: Requires daily interaction with PCs and data processing processes and software for majority of duties. Occasional work outside the Bank's normal business hours (i.e. weekends, evenings or early mornings) as necessary to meet project schedules.
