This role is part of Alcon's Engineering function, a team focused on improving quality, processes, products, packaging, and materials across our business to help deliver brilliant outcomes.

The Associate III, Automation & Control Engineering (Science/Tech/Engineering Path), is primarily responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining automation control systems with a focus on mathematical modeling and control theory. You will make critical decisions within your project area, requiring advanced technical knowledge and problem-solving skills. Specifics include:




  • Supporting manufacturing automation systems for all platforms, performing scheduled PMs, developmental training for EMs and associates, and maintaining compliant GxP requirements in all areas of the manufacturing process.



  • Take on highly complex tasks related to the design, development, implementation, operation, and maintenance of instrument/electrical and automation control systems.



  • Focus on mathematical modeling of diverse systems, analyzing their dynamic behavior, and using control theory to create controllers that ensure systems behave in a desired manner.



  • Contribute to the development of cutting-edge projects by applying advanced technical knowledge and making critical decisions that significantly influence project outcomes.



  • Stay current with advances in system design, configuration, and automation.



  • Adhere to GxP regulations by strictly following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), maintaining accurate and complete documentation, ensuring rigorous quality control, and completing all required training.



  • Meet individual job requirements and contribute to the overall compliance of the organization by committing to continuous improvement and regulatory compliance.





WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO ALCON:




  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +8 yrs; Assoc.+4 yrs)



  • The ability to fluently read, write, understand, and communicate in English



  • Work hours: 36 - 48 hours per week: 6:00 PM EST - 6:00 AM EST, 12-hour rotating night shift: 2 nights on, 2 nights off, and every other weekend (Though rare, day shift availability is possible based on business needs and individual qualifications)



  • Travel Required: 0 - 5%



  • Location: Onsite

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:




  • Mechatronics Experience



  • Electrical Troubleshooting



  • Prior experience with Beckhoff / TwinCAT



  • Structured Text Programming Language



  • PLCs (Programmable Logic Controls) Experience
