Interface Engineer Job Summary B&A is seeking a highly experienced Interface Engineer (System Integration Engineer) with a strong background in Health IT and enterprise systems integration. This role focuses on developing, implementing, and supporting complex interface solutions across healthcare platforms using Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) and IHE standards. The successful candidate will work with stakeholders to design, implement, and maintain integrations between systems-especially in environments leveraging OpenText Content Suite, AppWorks, and Archive Center. Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain system interfaces and integration solutions for large-scale health IT environments.
- Implement and manage web services and middleware components in alignment with SOA principles.
- Ensure integration designs comply with Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE) standards including XCA (Cross-Community Access) and XDS (Cross-Enterprise Document Sharing).
- Collaborate with business analysts, developers, and system architects to translate requirements into integration solutions.
- Develop and document interface specifications, configuration details, and system interaction workflows.
- Participate in Agile development teams, contributing to user story refinement, sprint planning, and testing activities.
- Support deployment and operationalization of integrations within secure healthcare environments, ensuring interoperability, scalability, and performance.
- Contribute to the implementation and support of enterprise content management (ECM) systems, particularly OpenText Content Suite, AppWorks, and Archive Center.
Education and Experience
- Master's degree in Computer Science or a closely related field (required).
- 10+ years of Health IT experience with a focus on system integration and interface development.
Required Skills
- Proven experience developing web services and integration components based on SOA architecture.
- Strong understanding and implementation experience with IHE integration profiles, especially XCA and XDS.
- Demonstrated success working in Agile development environments.
- Hands-on experience with interface engines, middleware, and API-based integration patterns.
Desired Skills
- Experience implementing or integrating with OpenText ECM products, such as Content Suite, Archive Center, and AppWorks.
- Familiarity with HL7, FHIR, and other healthcare interoperability standards.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks, especially within healthcare or federal systems (e.g., NIST, HIPAA).
- Experience with system monitoring, logging, and troubleshooting of distributed interface solutions.
- Exposure to government or DoD health IT environments and systems (e.g., MHS GENESIS, AHLTA, HAIMS).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving abilities with a methodical and detail-oriented approach.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in fast-paced Agile teams.
- Skilled in documentation and presenting technical solutions to varied audiences.
