Job Summary
This position will conduct research in Dr. Ali Aliev's lab working on current funded projects such as: RF sputtering and epitaxial deposition of thin transparent superconductors, conducting various chemical and electrochemical doping (intercalation, reduction) of the films, photolithographic patterning of the films to obtain the meandering nanowires from those films, and short optical pulse excitation to test the sensitivity of the superconducting nanowires to a single photon excitation.
Minimum Education and Experience
Ph.D in a related field.
Preferred Education and Experience
Ph.D. in Chemistry or a related field and knowledge of quantum chemistry and quantum physics to develop two-dimensional superconducting single-photon detectors.
Other Qualifications
To the extent this position requires the holder to research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure as defined in Section 117.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the critical infrastructure is a minimum qualification to be hired and to continue to be employed in the position.

  2. Recording and analyzing data
  3. Presenting results to center director and other research staff
  4. Writing research papers, reports, reviews and summaries
  5. Preparing research proposals and funding applications
  6. Mentoring and supervising graduate and undergraduate students and junior staff
  7. Being a team leader making sure the lab is a safe and friendly research environment
  8. Developing collaborations inside and outside of the university
  9. Keeping up to date with relevant scientific and technical development

50% of work time is in Clean rooms.
