Overview

R&P is looking for a motivated professional who wants to join our team. We are a mid-sized defense contractor providing program management, ship design, production, cyber risk management, testing, logistics, financial management, test and evaluation, configuration management, post-delivery, fleet introduction, light manufacturing, as well as maintenance and repair services to our government clients and industry partners. We need a Senior Project Engineer ready to join a fast-paced and exciting work environment in support to the Strategic and Theater Sealift Program Office (PMS 385) and the United States Maritime Administration (MARAD) as our on-site marine surveyor in direct support to MARAD's Ready Reserve Force (RRF) Recapitalization program.



Responsibilities

    Provide Marine Surveyor expertise to PMS 385 and MARAD for the outfitting and conversion of commercial ships to deliver Sealift capability to MARAD's Ready Reserve Force (RRF).
  • Apply naval engineering experience in one or more of the following areas of Marine Engineering: Hull, Mechanical, Electrical, C4I, Structural, Propulsion, Auxiliary Machinery, Naval Architecture, Deck Equipment, Aviation Support.
  • Work shipboard to provide oversight and progress reporting to the government in the execution of shipyard production/conversion work in accordance with plans.
  • Review Work Packages, Statements of Work, and specifications to ensure adherence to requirements.
  • Conduct inspections, surveys or examinations of sealift vessels and the installed equipment to assess, monitor and report on their condition.
  • Review and provide analysis of the execution yard's schedule and POA&Ms to the program team.
  • Identify risks and provide analysis of emergent issues to include recommendations for risk mitigation and/or resolution. Identify lessons learned for incorporation in future ships.
  • Provide engineering analysis of technical studies, reports, plans, procedures, and processes as they relate to ship design elements.
  • Assist in the development of technical reports, briefs, point papers, and documentation as needed in the execution of outfitting and conversion.
  • Access all spaces of ships to provide marine surveyor support. Possible travel to locations outside the typical office setting for interaction with customers, vendors, shipyards, and stakeholders, including ship visits and onboard site checks.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineeing or related discipline with 10+ Years' of relevant experience.
  • Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Active Secret Clearance
  • Ability to work in a shipyard/industrial environment.
