We are currently seeking a full time Director of Business Development for our Jet Products location in Kearny Mesa. This position is for the first shift, Monday - Friday, and works based on a 9/80 schedule.
What does the job involve?
The Director of Business Development provides leadership and direction to ensure the fulfillment of business growth, strategic direction and profit objectives are achieved. Plans, directs, organizes, and controls functions of business development and contracts. Develops negotiating strategies, locates, identifies and evaluates potential business development opportunities.
What will my responsibilities include?
- Provides leadership and direction to ensure the fulfillment of business growth, strategic direction and profit objectives.
- Sets sales targets and defines strategy to achieve targets.
- Establishes sales objectives in connection with divisions business plan.
- Locates, identifies, and evaluates potential business deals; discovers and explores potential opportunities.
- Identifies new markets for potential business development opportunities.
- Evaluates potential of each market (size, barriers to entry, technology, competitors, etc.).
- Analyzes sales statistics to determine business growth potential for division.
- Keeps current on marked and industry trends, competitors and leading customer strategies and shares insights with team.
- Establishes business pursuit strategies for assigned customers.
- Develops negotiating strategies and positions; studies integration of new venture with company strategies and operations; examines risks, potential.
- Supports corporate and division marketing objectives.
- Plans, directs, organizes and controls functions of business development and contracts including but not limited to: hiring, training and development, evaluating performance, customer service, contract administration, estimating and engineering.
- Directs resolution to customer complaints.
- Provides liaison between field sales, customers, and internal company resources for new business pursuits.
- Acts as executive-level point of contact for customer's purchasing organizations when it comes to significant customer complaints/disputes or significant new business opportunity.
- Provides clear communication to all relevant stakeholders.
- Initiates action plans to secure new business.
- Directs proposal development process.
- Closes new business deals by coordinating requirements, developing and negotiating contracts; integrating contact requirements with business operations.
- Maintains continuous improvement culture for business development execution. Ensures standard work is in place and followed for all processes needed to capture new business.
What key skills and experience do I need?
- Strong communication comprehension (both verbal and written) skills.
- Excellent presentation skills
- Strong analytical skills
- Proficient computer skills using Microsoft Office Suite; specifically, Excel, PowerPoint & Word.
- Ability to multi-task.
What qualifications should I have?
Education:
- Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent combination of education and experience, technical degree highly preferred.
Experience:
- 7 years manufacturing industry and aerospace experience with 3 years of management experience.
