Career Education and Content Manager

Overview
Career Services Administration (CSA) is seeking a Career Education and Content Manager to guide system-wide efforts to build an integrated career readiness ecosystem that prepares University of Minnesota students to explore purpose, build competencies and pursue their aspirations. This position plays a pivotal role in shaping inclusive, scalable career education efforts across all UMN campuses.

Reporting to the Executive Director of CSA, this role collaborates with career centers and staff across the University system to design and implement strategies that enhance student career readiness, expand equitable access to high-impact career opportunities and unify messaging and branding around student success. This position will work in mutual support and partnership with the Work+ Manager.

Responsibilities
Career Curriculum and Training Resources 30%

  • Develop a scalable career education program based on established Career Learning Outcomes, inclusive pedagogy, and universal design principles in support of career unit efforts
  • Create modular, plug-and-play resources (videos, assignments, learning activities) that can be adopted across curricular and co-curricular settings.
  • Initiate collaboration with career units to embed career content into academic courses, student employment, first-year experiences, mentoring programs and other available avenues.
  • Design on-boarding, training and continuous learning programming and resources for career development professionals system-wide, focused on elevating career education delivery and consistency.
  • Establish and manage a robust internal knowledge hub containing standard operating procedures, toolkits, policies and shared resources to enhance operational effectiveness and staff collaboration.

Career Communications and Data Storytelling 25%

  • Partner with OSA and system communication teams to amplify awareness and impact of career resources through strategic campaigns, tailored messaging and coordinating system-wide outreach.
  • Guide message strategy across digital platforms (e.g., MyU, newsletters, Handshake) to promote
    student engagement,equitable access and early career planning.
  • Translate institutional career data into compelling stories and actionable insights for diverse stakeholders including students, employers and administrators.

Website Content Development 25%

  • Develop and manage CSA's website (career.umn.edu), ensuring content is aligned with institutional priorities, current trends in career-readiness, labor market data and the evolving needs of students and employers.
  • Integrate dynamic content streams (e.g. Handshake, LMI, engagement analytics) to develop content tailored to student needs and interests.
  • Curate and develop new resources and components as needed to provide comprehensive and robust web content that guides users to available resources 24/7 and augments resources available on career individual unit websites.
  • Develop content priorities in consultation with system career units.
  • Coordinate with OIT staff on system integrations and with UMN Marketing and Communications staff to ensure compliance with federal digital accessibility requirements and attention to usability standards.

Peer Team Development 20%

  • Develop a vision for the CSA student employees to support office needs while elevating opportunities for leadership and experiential learning.
  • Establish a training curriculum and program structure aligned with national best practices in peer education.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree plus at least six years of relevant experience, or Master's degree plus at least four years of related experience.
  • Expertise in current career development practices, trends and theories
  • Experience developing curricula for workshops, courses, or training programs.
  • Experience working in career services or related fields within higher education.
  • Ability to develop concise, substantive and well-written online content.
  • Experience using digital technologies for communications or educational strategies
  • Understanding of career education strategies for all levels of student career development
  • Excellent written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Website development experience.
  • Understanding of UConnect, Handshake, and other technologies that support student career outcomes in a higher education setting.
  • Experience as a career counselor/coach.
  • Understanding of usability and digital accessibility standards.
  • Data reporting, analysis and communication experience.
  • Understanding of visual communication strategies.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $66,000 - $70,000 annually, depending on education/qualifications/experience
