Location: This position is onsite at the Macomb service center located in Macomb, MI. The selected candidate must be within a commutable distance or willing to relocate.

General Summary of Job Responsibilities

The Building Utility Worker A is responsible for maintaining, operating, and repairing buildings, equipment, and facilities. This role includes troubleshooting and repairing HVAC systems, electrical circuits, plumbing, and carpentry work while ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards. The position may also require travel to various work locations as needed.

Job Duties



  • Maintain, operate, and repair buildings, equipment, yards, drives, and walkways.
  • Troubleshoot and repair air conditioning and heating equipment, including associated control systems.
  • Perform work on multi-phase electrical equipment and circuits.
  • Conduct plumbing, finishing carpentry, tile, and brickwork.
  • Travel to other locations as required to perform work.
  • Perform other similar and related tasks as assigned.



Knowledge and Skills



  • Proficiency in HVAC maintenance and repair.
  • Advanced knowledge of electrical codes and troubleshooting mechanical problems.
  • Ability to read and work from schematics and technical prints.
  • Strong understanding of OSHA, MIOSHA, and other relevant safety and environmental standards.
  • Capability to obtain and retain Michigan State Certification for refrigerants.



Required Qualifications



  • Minimum of 2 years in building maintenance, HVAC systems, electrical work, plumbing, and carpentry.
