Washington, D.C. - Department 488 at the Washington Engineering Office (WEO) provides on-site support to NAVSEA command at the Washington Navy Yard, including PEO SSN, PEO SSBN, and PEO UWS. The selected candidate will primarily support PEO SSN (PMS 392) as a VIRGINIA Class Planning Yard liaison.

The Engineer will be a self-starter capable of assigning themselves work priorities and managing time with little supervision. This role requires an understanding of ship systems (HM&E, SWFTS, C4I), and the Navy Modernization Process - Management and Operations Manual (NMP-MOM) procedures. Frequent communication with internal and external stakeholders is required. The Engineer will support the Planning Yard and NAVSEA engineers and program managers with the day-to-day execution of submarine modernization processes. The Engineer will be required to review current processes and provide recommendations for improvement. The Engineer will utilize PowerBI to provide data visualizations in various areas such as ship alterations, GFI, and technical instructions. The Engineer will also support the tracking and resolution of technical, logistical, and programmatic issues surrounding NAVSEA review and approval of VIRGINIA Class modernization packages related to C4I systems as well as Liaison Action Requests (LARs) that fall under PMS392 cognizance.

Additional responsibilities include:

    Develop coordinated planning documents, tracking tools, and meeting agendas in support of alteration work.
  • Effectively communicate various technical and programmatic issues with NAVSEA and EB task managers.
  • Ensure all data is input correctly and that required reports and data outputs are delivered correctly in a timely manner.
  • The Engineer will be expected to acquire and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC) for access into NAVSEA controlled spaces and systems.

The ability to work in the Washington, D.C. area is required.

This is a hybrid work environment, with up to 40% being remote.



Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's of Science degree in engineering or related technical field.
  • 5-10 years experience in engineering, program management, or data management/analysis.
  • Experience managing data and creating reports from various database systems.
  • Experience planning and coordinating technical efforts between multiple teams.

Preferred:

  • Experience working with PowerBI and VBA.
  • Experience working with ship systems.
  • Experience working with naval maintenance activities and in-service engineering agents (ISEA) or participating managers (PARMs) Knowledge of submarine maintenance, modernization, and sustainment procedures.
  • Experience working with information assurance and cybersecurity requirements.
  • Experience working with ILS products and shipyard test procedures.
  • Active Secret clearance.
