The Opportunity:

Are you passionate about higher education, alumni engagement, and building meaningful relationships with the next generation of leaders? The Assistant Director of Young Alumni Engagement and Philanthropy plays a critical role in engaging UCF's young alumni community and cultivating a strong culture of connection, giving, and lifelong involvement.

This role is responsible for designing scalable engagement programs, hosting dynamic events, developing targeted communication strategies, and driving philanthropic participation among UCF's young alumni graduates. The ideal candidate will bring energy, creativity, and strategic thinking to advance engagement and annual giving outcomes.

Classification Title: Assistant Director, Annual Giving

Responsibilities:

Strategy & Leadership:


  • Develop and execute a comprehensive young alumni engagement and giving strategy aligned with UCF's Advancement goals.

  • Design year-round programs that encourage participation, deepen affinity and build philanthropic habits early in the alumni life cycle.


Student-to-Alumni Transition:

  • Design and lead initiatives that support the transition from student to alumni, focusing on engaging new graduates and increasing retention of new graduate engagement and philanthropy.

Event Planning & Execution:

  • Coordinate high-impact events like Homecoming, Grad Walk, and 30 Under 30, managing all logistics, vendor relations, and budgets in partnership with campus and community collaborators to maximize participation and impact.

Volunteer Management:

  • Recruit, train and steward young alumni volunteers through mentorship and episodic opportunities that build leadership pipelines and promote sustained engagement.

Communications & Marketing:


  • Develop engaging, segmented content across email, web, text, UCF Knights Network, and social media channels tailored to a young alumni audience.

  • Maintain an updated and compelling young alumni web presence and serve as a key voice for this group within the broader UCF engagement strategy.


Collaboration & Cross-Campus Partnership:

  • Work in tandem with the Annual Giving team to align young alumni giving strategies with engagement efforts, while also working with colleges and campus partners to co-host and support events that further young alumni involvement and visibility across the university.

Young Alumni Participation:


  • Leverage UCF Day of Giving to increase young alumni-specific participation.

  • Conduct 1:1 outreach to strategic alumni segments through in-person, phone and virtual interactions, log contact reports, and share leads with development and alumni engagement teams to deepen connections and increase affinity with the university.


Data & Budget Management:


  • Track and analyze young alumni engagement metrics to support data-driven decisions and strategic planning.

  • Maintain fiscal responsibility for program budgets and ensure compliance with data privacy and university policies.


Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree and 2+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Click here for more information

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Expertise in executing large, high-profile events.

  • Experience in alumni engagement and volunteer management, especially in higher education or a nonprofit setting.

  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and time management skills.

  • Comfortable operating in a matrixed or complex University environment.

  • Experience working with various technologies including advanced knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office, Zoom, Teams and CRM systems.

  • Ability to effectively communicate, handle multiple priorities, and handle the pressure of deadlines.

  • The ability to work independently as well as collaboratively to achieve goals with a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service.

  • Experience in budget management.


Special Instructions to the Applicants:

The selected candidate will travel, attend and conduct meetings on and off campus, and make presentations before large and small groups.

The anticipated salary for a well-qualified candidate is $56,030 - $68,637. Advancement and Partnerships values the unique contributions that each team member brings to our division. The determination of a successful candidate's starting salary will vary based on several factors, including education and relevant experience. The anticipated pay scale indicated for this position generally applies to candidates who meet the minimum requirements and several of the preferred qualifications outlined above.
