Overview:

Egan Company is seeking experienced candidates for an Engineering Supervisor (Process and Manufacturing Controls) position located in Champlin, MN. The Process & Manufacturing Engineering Supervisor is responsible for supervising an Engineering team within the Industrial Controls Process and Manufacturing group. The majority of the work performed by Process & Manufacturing Controls team is executed in the Greater Twin Cities metro.

Responsibilities:



  • Lead a team of Controls Engineers and support business development in the industrial process controls and manufacturing industry.
  • Plan and direct Engineering and other team members in the design, programming, and fabrication of industrial process control systems.
  • Develop tools and processes to enhance the group's efficiency and accuracy.
  • Develop methods and procedures for testing products or systems.
  • Coordinate and direct the activities of all Engineering team members.
  • Influence sales development and directions from an Engineering and estimating standpoint.
  • Review estimates, designs, logic, and graphics to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Facilitate the development and documentation of standard Engineering processes.
  • Lead planning meetings to assign engineers to a project team.
  • Work directly with the Project Managers on the overall scheduling, based on resource availability.
  • Develop, coach, mentor, cross train, and review direct reports to maximize team member involvement.
  • Conduct annual performance reviews to include safety, communications, quality, efficiency, and accountability of team members.
  • Assist in hiring new staff members.
  • Ensure resources are allocated to complete Engineering to customer expectations and to schedule.
  • Provide and maintain a visual schedule for all Engineering functions.
  • Maintain and continually improve target engineering hours.
  • Foster collaboration across product lines that promotes maximum performance and efficiency.
  • Understand Engineering processes in order to establish and maintain design time benchmarks.
  • Communicate with Egan's Panel Shop to ensure Engineering provides build-able products.
  • Plan meetings and communicate all necessary information.


Position Requirements:



  • 7+ years of related experience in a Controls Engineering capacity with projects related to industrial controls and/or product-line manufacturing, required.
  • A Four-year Engineering degree highly preferred.
  • Prior supervisory experience is highly preferred.
  • Project Management and Engineering sales experience desired.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Area of focus in Automation Controls.
  • Familiarity with Google suite- including Sheets, Docs, Gmail and Drive.
  • Knowledge of Visual Basic or JavaScript is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office.


Qualifications:


  • Previous Control Panel Hardware Design and PLC programming is required.
  • Strong team-oriented demeanor and ability to communicate effectively with internal and external clients.
  • Ability to do the following:

    • Understand prints and build specifications.
    • Lead a team of 8 to 12 engineers.
    • Complete tasks with limited supervision.
    • Prepare routine administrative paperwork.
    • Detect problems and report information to appropriate team members.
    • Work openly and honestly with other group management members and the Engineering Manager.
    • Effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
    • Occasional Travel outside of MN.




Working Conditions:



  • Performance of duties in the office, most of the time. Some travel may be required for international/national customers and participation in the trade shows.

Salary Range: $115,000-$130,000 (subject to such factors as experience, education, and/or skill set) plus potential annual discretionary bonus.
