Job Summary

Uses advanced professional concepts, an in-depth understanding of recharge policy and related federal guidelines, and organizational objectives to resolve highly complex issues with high impact to the research and clinical missions. Regularly works on highly complex issues related to Radiology research cores and associated clinical activities where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors and consideration of the perspectives of many stakeholders. Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Continuously improves forecasting techniques, budgeting, monitoring, billing methodologies, and reporting to promote compliance, transparency, and good stewardship of department resources. Contacts are both internal and external to the department at all levels.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $113,400 - $170,000 (Annual Rate).

Department Description

The Department of Radiology & Biomedical Imaging is one of the largest departments in the School of Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), generating more than $150 million in clinical revenues each year, and annual sponsored research revenue of more than $50 million. The mission of the Department includes research, teaching, and patient care. The department has over 150 salaried faculty, 260 staff, 190 non-faculty academics, and 100 trainees. The Department operates across 15 sites in San Francisco and the Bay Area.

Required Qualifications


  • Advanced degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
  • Five years of experience with budgeting and financial reporting/analysis
  • Advanced knowledge of finance policies, practices, and systems
  • Ability to identify, collect, and analyze information from multiple sources
  • Advanced ability to effectively present complex finance related information both verbally and in writing in a clear and concise manner
  • In depth ability to use multiple spreadsheet and database software tools to gather information for specialized, complex financial analysis, fiscal management, and financial reports
  • Advanced interpersonal skills at all levels within the organization; advanced service orientation and critical thinking skills; and attention to detail. In depth ability to use organizational skills to multi-task in a high volume environment
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities
  • Ability to function as a member of a team
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources
  • Advanced leadership skills to provide guidance, coaching, and mentoring to professional and support staff
  • Skills include service orientation, ability to multi-task effectively in a varied, high volume environment; uses sound judgment and decision making, critical thinking, creative problem solving, and effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to prepare and present complex financial analyses such as multiple-scenario projections and pro formas for management decision-making
  • Ability to interpret and apply OMB Uniform Guidance and campus rate-setting policies and procedures
