This position is responsible for leading by example and providing front-line support to the public at the Erie Community Center and Ballpark at Erie. As the first contact for customers both in-person and over the phone, the ability to relay accurate and timely information is crucial. Accountability and the willingness to take ownership are other key aspects of this position. Hiring Range




$19.83/hr - $22.31/hr




Full Range




$19.83/hr - $24.79/hr




ANTICIPATED WORK SCHEDULE: Part-time to include early mornings, nights, and weekends as needed; not to exceed 130 hours/month on average. Schedule may vary depending on program specific needs.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Manager Duties



  • Assists the Coordinator or Assistant Coordinator in performing daily duties in a variety of recreation and facility operations.
  • Acts as the Manager on Duty. Responsible for opening or closing the Erie Community Center, or the Coal Creek Ice Rink and Cafe'. Greets guests, accepts, and processes memberships and registrations for specific activities within the Community Center and Department.
  • Ensures the facility is ready for normal daily use including stocking consumables, checking for overall cleanliness, and performing safety checks. Submits work orders through appropriate software.
  • Consistently checks the Facility Calendar, and ensures all events and programs are running properly.
  • Conducts facility tours and provides accurate and up-to-date information regarding the center and programs offered.
  • Ensures the safety of guests and program participants by enforcing all rules and policies with staff and guests. Take appropriate action steps following any incidents within the facility.
  • Remains composed and makes sound judgments in any emergency or non-emergency situation. Responds to emergency situations, administers first aid, CPR, or other medical attention as needed, and completes incident reports.
  • Attends and participates in staff meetings and trainings. May assist with training staff.
  • Maintains work area, facilities, supplies and equipment to ensure a safe and sanitary environment and orders supplies as needed.
  • Completes a variety of paperwork including daily records, logs, and incident reports.
  • Maintains frequent communications with staff. Reports issues or concerns with inventory, facility conditions, policies and incidents to supervisory staff as needed.
  • Processes payments and adheres to cash handling policies, balances cash registers and may complete daily cash reports.

  • Serve as a professional ambassador of the Town by maintaining a professional image, a team-based collaborative approach, and high ethical standards.
  • Inspect facilities and program areas to ensure a safe environment. Report safety concerns as needed.
  • Interpret, communicate, and enforce all Department, Town, County, State and Federal policies and procedures within areas of program responsibility.
  • Complete all required safety trainings in a timely manner and ensures staff compliance.
  • Develop and accomplish goals and objectives to support the Department and Town mission.



Other/Miscellaneous



  • May assist with set up and tear down of equipment, tables and chairs for classes and rentals.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.


Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS



  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • One year of related customer service, recreation or related experience is required.



A combination of education and experience may be considered.

CERTIFICATES/LICENSES/REGISTRATIONS




  • Ability to obtain CPR, First Aid and AED certification within three months of employment

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Knowledge of: To perform this job successfully, an individual must demonstrate basic knowledge of the principles, practices, trends and methods of recreational facility operations and programming in a community setting. Knowledge of guidelines and regulations related to Department, Town, County, State, and Federal policies and procedures also required.

Skills in: Providing outstanding customer service to a diverse guest population; positive and professional working relationships with all Town staff and the community, may include instruction, communication of rules and regulations and enforcing policies; time management; presenting verbal and written information; the use of standard office equipment, computers, and various software programs; problem solving; following and enforcing all rules, regulations and policies; recognizing safety hazards and sanitation issues and notify supervisors; safely operate a variety of recreation related equipment; remaining composed in emergency situations and working effectively under stressful circumstances; performing CPR, First Aid, and AED to level of certification.

Environmental Factors:

Work is performed in a standard recreational facility environment. Work may involve competing demands and performing multiple tasks.

Physical Factors:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit or stand for extended periods of time and occasionally lift storage boxes and sports equipment of 20lbs or more.
