Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a EKG Technician - Respiratory Therapy - Full Time, Days - EKG/EEG - Full-Time - Monday - Friday 7:00.

In this role, the successful candidate Under general supervision and according to established procedures, Operates electrocardiogram (EKG) machine to measuring the electrical activity of the heart. In addition, provide secretarial and administrative support as needed.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Clinical Duties and Administrative Responsibilities:

- Reads and verifies physicians orders for tests required. Discusses with physician any questions or concerns prior to performing procedure. Reviews and analyzes patients medical history to be prepared for any potential concerns that may occur during testing. When required, interviews patients and/or family members to obtain additional information.

-Positions patients, explains procedures to reduce apprehensions, attaches electrodes to predetermined positions, instructs patients in relaxation techniques and elicits cooperation.

-Checks equipment for proper set-up, functioning, & settings before performing procedure.

-Documents in patients chart date and time procedure performed any other pertinent information, and signature/title.

-Prepares test results for interpretation by physicians, recording necessary patient information on graphs, identifying tests performed, electrode placement, unusual occurrences and so forth; eliminates from consideration artifacts caused by patient movement. Stores/archives tests in the machine and forwards completed tests to Medical Records.

-Maintains a clean and orderly work area. Cleans and keeps equipment in proper working order. Notifies Manager and/or Clinical Engineering of any problems with equipment.

-Performs EKG following departmental policies. Interacts with patients, their families, Hospital staff, and physicians.

-Performs support duties such as scheduling patients, answering telephones, transporting patients, taking and relaying messages, requisitioning supplies as directed, filing records, and so forth.

-Maintains knowledge of current trends and techniques in the field by reading appropriate literature and attending related seminars, conferences and the like. Assists in inter- and intra-departmental inservices.

-Monitors compliance with mandatory training/inservices for department. Sends statistical reports to Manager on a monthly basis. Arranges meetings and conferences, schedules appointments, and maintains personal calendars.

-Monitors and maintains appropriate levels of liquid oxygen, medical gas cylinders, disposable and non-disposable medical equipment. Orders and tracks rental equipment. Notifies Manager of any deficiencies.

-Performs, related general office duties such as monitoring and ordering standard office supplies, contacting service representatives for department equipment and collating, assembling and distributing documents.

-Establishes, maintains and revises record keeping and filing systems; classifies, sorts and files correspondence, records and other documents. Compiles daily statistics of all respiratory care modalities and diagnostics. Enters daily charges for all services rendered.

-Prepares payroll using computerized and/or manual systems, updates and maintains attendance record. Utilizes knowledge of a variety of Hospital policies and procedures, to gather, interpret, and summarize data and information; uses data to develop administrative and statistical reports.

2. Personal/Customer Service Skills:

-Explains treatment procedures to patients and/or family members to allay fears and elicit cooperation.

-Interacts with individuals of all age groups and demonstrates sensitivity to their special needs.

-Promotes teamwork and customer satisfaction.

-Is sensitive to the psychosocial needs of patients and their families.

-Monitors par levels and coordinates the ordering and maintenance of Respiratory Care supplies and equipment.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Knowledge of basic electrocardiography testing procedures and equipment, the ability to distinguish abnormal characteristics and detect machine artifacts.
Ability to prepare complex statistical tables, forms, correspondence, reports and the like from rough draft or dictation.
Approximately two years of progressively more responsible related work experience in order to gain full knowledge of secretarial and office procedures, and the use and operation of standard office equipment.
Computer skills-Proficiency in Word, Excel, Kronos, In-house e-mail, and Lawson, and preferable skill in Access and Power Point.

Ability to frequently lift/carry/push and pull up to 25 lbs. Occasionally push or pull between 25-100 lbs. Frequently bend, reach above shoulder, climb steps/ladder and occasionally kneel and squat.

The salary range for the role is $52,728.00 - $52,728.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
