Under the general direction of the Executive Director of the Behavioral Health Workforce Center (BHWC), the Program Director - Behavioral Health Clinical Education and Training plays a key leadership role in strengthening and enhancing behavioral health clinical training and supervision services to improve the quality of programs and to expand the behavioral health workforce throughout the state, with a primary focus on rural and underserved areas.
SIU School of Medicine does not participate in the E-Verify program. Employment eligibility will be verified in accordance with applicable state and federal laws.

Examples of Duties

Administration - 90%
- Exercise direct authority for the planning, development, administration, operation, and management of work associated with expanding and enhancing behavioral health clinical training and supervision programs.
- Provide expert knowledge of behavioral health systems, workforce challenges, and clinical training experiences.
- Direct the assessment of existing behavioral health clinical training sites. Identify gaps in availability with a focus on underserved regions and underrepresented populations.
- Oversee the planning and creation of new clinical training sites in rural and small urban areas of the state.
- Facilitate partnerships between academic institutions, behavioral health providers, and community organizations to expand high quality internship placement opportunities and build sustainable training pipelines.
- Assist in the implementation of a psychiatry rural residency program.
- Plan and implement a statewide strategy to provide remote supervision to behavioral health professionals.
- Plan and develop professional development opportunities, including ECHOs, for behavioral health professionals.
- Provide oversight and communicate recommendations from BHWC work groups.
- Collaborate with internal staff and external stakeholders to ensure programs align with BHWC goals and emerging workforce needs.
- Assist in creating, interpreting, developing, and implementing policies and procedures for BHWC staff.
- Prepare and manage short-term and long-term strategic, organizational, and budgetary planning.
- Represent BHWC in external meetings, conferences, and initiatives related to behavioral health training and supervision programs.
- Oversee daily program operations, ensuring effective communication, coordination, documentation, and tracking of key milestones.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Research - 10%
- Support the Executive Director with policy research, data-informed advocacy materials, and participation in statewide workgroups or coalitions, and overall program development.
- Research and assess gaps in existing clinical training sites, supervision programs, and professional development opportunities to determine capacity, needed growth, and strategies for addressing these gaps.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications 1.Bachelor's degree in education, public health, psychology, social work, public administration, or a related field. 2.Three (3) or more years of relevant experience in education, behavioral health, workforce development, or program leadership. * Master's Degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year of work experience.
Desirable Qualifications 1.Master's degree in education, public health, psychology, social work, public administration, or a related field. 2.Demonstrated ability to plan and lead cross-sector initiatives with academic institutions, behavioral health providers, and community partners. 3.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience developing training materials and report writing. 4.Familiarity with behavioral health clinical training, internships, or residency models. 5.Experience working in or with diverse behavioral health settings.
