Job Description

Position Overview

As the Vertical Engineer Operations Director at JLL, you will serve as the subject matter expert in vertical engineering operations, supporting targeted accounts and addressing ad-hoc Work Dynamics business needs. You will lead the strategic direction and operational excellence of engineering & hard services delivery, and other specialized building technologies. This role requires technical depth, leadership acumen, and strategic vision to transform our approach to vertical engineering operations while driving innovation and collaboration across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Expertise & Account Support

  • Provide strategic and tactical engineering assistance to accounts at all levels (technicians through Divisional Presidents) using first-hand experience and data-based analytics

  • Serve as the primary subject matter expert in engineering operations for a specific vertical and collaborative assistance for others, providing expertise during assurance reviews, site inspections, and due diligence activities

  • Identify and resolve central challenges and gaps in vertical engineering operations for client accounts

  • Provide engineering inputs on JLL minimum standards and best practices, and connect accounts to appropriate SMEs within the organization

  • Support root cause analysis and risk mitigation for equipment failures and operational issues

  • Conduct on-site building evaluations and lead due diligence efforts for both ad-hoc needs and bid/expansion purposes

Leadership & Innovation

  • Lead engineering and technical services innovation in partnership with WPM Technology to drive best-in-class operational performance

  • Develop and implement strategic roadmaps for upgrading engineering delivery and talent to support account and company needs

  • Define and deploy service delivery standards for vertical engineering products, incorporating operational feedback from the field

  • Foster knowledge sharing and collaboration among engineering practitioners

  • Support deployment of maintenance and asset management programs utilizing CMMS and other technology tools

  • Evaluate and assist in the development, testing, and deployment of new technologies to aid various engineering stakeholders

Business Development Support

  • Work closely with Engineering Solutions and Sales teams to provide engineering expertise in RFP/RFI response efforts

  • Collaborate on technical responses, example deliverables, presentations, staffing models, and pricing exercises

  • Make recommendations to bid management teams on improvements to proposal language and technical deliverables

  • Identify expansion opportunities and coordinate with other specialized teams (HSSE, Sustainability, Mobile Engineering) to design holistic engineering solutions

Risk Management & Compliance

  • Ensure effective collaboration with HSSE teams to deliver compliance and assurance programs that meet JLL standards

  • Develop comprehensive standard operating procedures, emergency protocols, and response procedures

  • Implement and support the JLL Client Assurance Program (JCAP) for engineering services

  • Ensure alignment and compliance with established policies for the management of engineering services

Talent Development

  • Interview and assess technical resources, identify and monitor development of engineering talent

  • Deploy technical training programs and certification initiatives aligned with Education and Professional Development strategy

  • Assist in the onboarding process for new accounts and technical resources

  • Contribute to the development of high-performing team of engineering professionals

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate extensively with other functions within the Center of Expertise to maximize the value of platform programs

  • Connect accounts with appropriate SMEs across the organization when specialized expertise is required

  • Support engineering operations transition activities for new business and expansions

  • Drive consistent implementation of engineering programs across client portfolios

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or related technical field (Master's degree preferred)

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in CRE management and engineering operations

  • Strong knowledge of building codes, safety standards, and regulatory requirements a plus

  • Experience developing standard operating procedures and implementing assurance programs

  • Proven leadership experience with demonstrated ability to build and develop high-performing teams

  • Experience with CMMS systems and asset management technology platforms

  • Demonstrated success in collaborating across functional teams to deliver integrated solutions

  • Excellent communication skills with ability to translate complex technical concepts to various stakeholders

  • Position may require up to 50% travel

Estimated total compensation for this position:

176,000.00 - 200,000.00 USD per year

The total compensation range is an estimate and not guaranteed. An employment offer is based on an applicant's education, experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, internal equity and alignment with market data .
