Job Summary |
Auburn University Libraries is seeking applicants for the position of Student Assistant in Digital Humanities to contribute to the Alabama Authors of the 18th & 20th Centuries digital project. The ideal candidate will be a high-achieving, self-motivated sophomore or junior with an interest in at least one of the following: literary studies, computer science, digital humanities, non-profit organization promotion, scholarly publishing, data science, open-source software, and the open-access movement. The Student Assistant will gain excellent experience managing and expanding content for the Alabama Authors of the 18th & 20th Centuries website, AlabamaAuthors.org. |
Essential Functions |
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Assists in the development of project proposals, plans and protocols.
- Conducts routine or fundamental investigations and/or studies related to projects in pursuit of new knowledge, techniques and concepts.
- Assists with logistical considerations to include equipment, materials, and labor needs.
- Collects data related to others' research in related fields.
- Records, compiles, processes and analyzes data.
- Documents results and observations in writing as well as presenting results to others.
- May assist in the preparation of research results for publication or presentation at conferences to include assisting in literature reviews and assisting in the writing of results and discussions.
- May instruct and/or supervise others' research in area of expertise.

Minimum Qualifications |
Currently enrolled student at Auburn University.
Expectations:
- Report for the shift on time
- Interest in public service and delivery of quality customer service
- Be willing to work as a team member while interacting with faculty, staff, and students
- Possess strong interpersonal and communications skills
- Detail oriented
- Job frequently requires standing, walking, reaching, balancing, hearing, handling objects with hands, and occasionally lifting
- Dependability, multi-tasking, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment are imperative
