Job Description |
ECU Office of Global Affairs is currently seeking an
International Engagement Programming and Communications Assistant.
Are you passionate about international cultures and eager to support global education?
This is your opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, supporting our international student and scholar community. As part of our team, you will gain valuable experience working an average of
10 hours per week.
What you'll do:
Event Coordination (60%)
- Manage the weekly Coffee Hours, including inventory and purchase requests, setup, take down, and administrative items like tracking attendance.
- Assist in the organization and facilitation of international student events, including the welcome cookout, excursions, and seasonal activities.
- Assist in the organization and facilitation of International Student Donation Week. Includes sorting, cleaning, and documenting donations.
- Drive the Office of Global Affairs van for specific events.
- Design digital and print promotional materials (flyers, graphics, etc.)
Communications (15%)
- Write and send the Weekly Digest for the International Student Hub and Visiting Scholar Hub.
- Support and develop communication with affinity organizations across campus to educate about the IE&E team.
- Send event communications to international students, clubs, and other engaged connections.
- Attend selected conferences and workshops, supporting the area's mission and student success.
Office Management (25%)
- Welcoming guests to the office
- Review course selections for Exchange students.
- Research, Review, and edit the content in the International Student Hub/ Visiting Scholar Hub/ IE&E office manual.
- Copying & filing documents
- Other duties as assigned.

What we're looking for:
Availability
- Must be available Fridays from 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm
- Preference will be given to applicants who can make a full academic year commitment
Engagement & Communications
- Interest in student engagement, event planning, and student success
- Strong public speaking, oral communication skills, and written communication skills
- Excellent customer service and contributes to a sense of belonging.
- Valid North Carolina driver's license and ability to pass driving background check to facilitate Office of Global Affairs excursions.
Office Management
- Strong organizational skills
- Detail-oriented and able to manage tasks with sensitivity and confidentiality when needed.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving
- Ability to research and plan tasks without guidance or supervision needed.
- Skills are proficient in technology and Canva and/or similar design software, online reporting tools, and Microsoft Office.
It'd be nice if you had...
- Demonstrated experience with intercultural communication and an interest in developing these skills further.
- Creative approach to communicating with current students.
- Interest in graphic design
- Interest in marketing and project management
