Job Summary

The selected candidate would be responsible for safely transporting explosives for highway right of way cuts and quarry blasting projects. Other duties would include handling explosives and operating small equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safely load and transport hazardous materials in compliance with regulatory agency requirements.
  • Safely load explosives and aggregate stemming under the Blaster in Charge's supervision
  • Ensure strict compliance with safety regulatory requirements, guidelines, and protocols to prevent accidents, injuries, and damage to property. Maintain a thorough understanding of regulations related to explosives handling and disposal.
  • Prepare the blast site to assess and identify potential hazards while ensuring the area is properly secured. Conduct inspections, clear debris, and implement safety measures.
  • Inspect and maintain equipment utilized equipment.
  • Collaborate and communicate as part of a team working directly with other professionals such as engineers and inspectors.
  • Must be able to work Saturdays and Sundays. Typical weekly work hours can meet or exceed 60 hours.
Relevant Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years of previous hazardous materials transportation experience
  • Ability to pass ATF background check
  • MSHA (can provide)
  • OSHA 10 (can provide)
  • CDL with hazmat endorsement and clean motor vehicles record
  • Must be able to pass DOT physical exam or have a current valid Medical Examiner's Certificate (MEC).
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to pass drug screening and a PAT (physical abilities test)
  • Must be able to communicate regularly
  • Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 60 pounds
  • Frequently exposed to loud noises
  • Frequently exposed to outdoor weather conditions
