System Engineer / Senior System Engineer

Genesis10 is currently seeking a System Engineer / Senior System Engineer for a PERM role with our client in Jersey City, NJ. This role is hybrid (with occasional evening/weekend tasks).

Position Summary

Client is seeking a highly skilled and motivated System Engineer / Senior System Engineer to join our IT team. This critical role will be responsible for the day-to-day administration, management, and support of client's IT systems and data infrastructure. Beyond daily operations, you will strategically contribute to projects and merger & acquisition (M&A) activities, ensuring optimal IT service delivery and continuous improvement across the organization.

This position requires an individual with exceptional technical expertise across a diverse range of systems and platforms. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, is detail-oriented, a strong documentarian, and actively participates in incident and request resolution.

Key Responsibilities

1. System Administration & Infrastructure Management:

• Manage and support physical servers, including Dell and Nutanix (Supermicro).
• Administer storage solutions such as Dell PowerScale and Pure Storage.
• Maintain hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) platforms, including Dell vxRail and Nutanix AOS.
• Oversee virtualization technologies such as VMware ESXi, Nutanix AHV, and Microsoft Hyper-V.
• Administer Windows Systems, including Windows Server and Windows Server Failover Clustering (WSFC).
• Manage Linux environments (RHEL, Ubuntu, Debian).
• Administer relational databases (Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases (MongoDB).
• Administer Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP

2. Networking and Security:

• Administer networking equipment, including Fortinet & SonicWall (focusing on firewall/routing, switching, and wireless networking).
• Manage endpoint security tools like SentinelOne and CrowdStrike.
• Support email systems such as Microsoft Exchange, Exchange Online, and Proofpoint.

3. Cloud & M365 Administration:

• Administer cloud infrastructure on Azure and AWS.
• Handle comprehensive Microsoft 365 tools, including Entra ID, Exchange Online, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, and Viva.
• SSO and MFA

4. Backup and Disaster Recovery:

• Implement and manage robust backup and disaster recovery solutions, including Rubrik, Cohesity, and Druva.

5. Project and Strategic Activities:

• Actively participate in assigned tasks as part of IT projects and merger and acquisition activities.
• Contribute to strategic initiatives by providing technical solutions and documentation.

6. IT Practices & Documentation:

• Engage with ITSM/ITIL frameworks for service delivery and management.
• Maintain meticulous documentation for all systems and processes.
• Actively participate in incident and request ticketing resolution.

Requirements

Technical Expertise:

• Proven experience in day-to-day administration and support of enterprise IT systems and data infrastructure, specifically across the technologies listed above.
• Strong proficiency in managing physical servers (Dell, Nutanix/Supermicro), storage (Dell PowerScale, Pure Storage), and HCI (Dell vxRail, Nutanix AOS).
• Expertise in hypervisors (VMware ESXi, Nutanix AHV, Microsoft Hyper-V).
• Experience with networking equipment (Fortinet & SonicWall) and endpoint security tools (SentinelOne, CrowdStrike).
• Proficiency in Windows Server, WSFC, various databases (SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB), and Linux (RHEL, Ubuntu, Debian).
• Hands-on experience with Azure and AWS administration.
• Strong command of Microsoft 365 administration (Entra ID, Exchange Online, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, Viva) and email systems (Microsoft Exchange, Proofpoint).
• Experience with backup and disaster recovery solutions (Rubrik, Cohesity, Druva).

• Highly detail-oriented with a strong commitment to thorough documentation.
• Proactive approach to problem-solving and process optimization.

Work Environment & Logistics:

• Must reside local to the Jersey City, NJ area and possess reliable transportation.
• Willingness to work in a hybrid model.
• Occasional need for evening and weekend work.
• Ability to travel minimally (0-10%) if required for projects or M&A activities.

Desired Skills (Not Required):

• Familiarity with compliance frameworks such as SOC2 Type 2 and ISO 27001.
• Experience with IT disciplines related to Change Control and Incident Response.

Compensation:

Salary range:$110,000 to $125,000

We have access to additional contract, contract-to-hire, and direct hire positions with various rate ranges.
