About the Job

The School of Public Health division of Health Policy and Management is seeking applications for a full-time Data Programmer and Analyst (9702BI IT Pro 2-BI & Data Analysis).

Starting Pay is dependent upon the selected candidate's relevant qualifications, experience, and internal equity: $66,000 to $94,500.

Work arrangements will be discussed during the interview. Onsite location: Mayo Memorial Building, 420 Delaware Street SE, TC East Bank Campus

Responsibilities:

Data Management and Construction (50%)
Build and manage analytic databases by integrating data from diverse sources, including healthcare claims, national surveys, and state health datasets.

Statistical Analysis (40%)
Perform statistical analyses such as descriptive statistics (tabular and graphical) and regression modeling. Interpret and communicate results in collaboration with research teams.

Data Infrastructure Development (10%)
Design, implement, and maintain data infrastructure to support ongoing and future research projects, ensuring data accessibility and usability.

All work will be conducted in close collaboration with faculty investigators. There will be opportunities to contribute to peer-reviewed journal publications resulting from these analyses.

Qualifications

Required:

  • BA/BS degree with coursework in statistics, econometrics, or related field and at least 2 years of relevant experience that must include at least 1 year of research experience (in academia, other nonprofit, or corporation) involving data preparation for statistical analysis; Or a Master's degree in health services research, public health, statistics, economics or a related field
  • Proficiency with at least one statistical programming language (e.g. SAS, Stata, or R)
  • Experience working with healthcare claims data.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and consistent documentation practices when writing statistical code.
  • Willingness to learn and develop new programming and analytical skills.
  • Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Demonstrate effective communication with written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.

Preferred:

  • Ability to convey complex statistical information into concepts and terms for the general public
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities across concurrent projects.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $66,000 to $94,500; depending on education/qualifications/experience

Time Appointment Category: 75%-100% Appointment (If job description above does not specify appointment or expected weekly hours, assume a 100% appointment.)
