Job code: 8342CG Employment Group: Civil Service Formal title: Marketing and Communications Professional 2 - Communications Generalist Working title: Communications Coordinator FTE: .75 FTE Description: The Community-University Health Care Center (CUHCC) is a federally qualified health center that is associated with the University of Minnesota. The clinic serves people of all ages from across the Twin Cities metro through a comprehensive range of services. CUHCC provides culturally responsive, whole-person care; serves as a site for experiential learning and mentoring for emergent health care professionals; and collaborates in innovative research/scholarship and advocacy to advance community health.
CUHCC is seeking an experienced communications professional to join our team. This individual will lead and support a range of program communication, digital strategy, and marketing and fundraising activities while also providing project management support on non-communication projects.
The ideal candidate brings expertise in marketing and communications best practices-including content creation, website and social media management, and email marketing-alongside strong skills in project planning, coordination, and execution. They are detail-oriented, deadline-driven, collaborative, and skilled at balancing multiple priorities. A strong background in community engagement and a commitment to serving diverse and multilingual communities is preferred. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys both creative and operational problem-solving.
This benefits-eligible position reports to the CUHCC Director of Advancement and will work collaboratively with the communications team in the UMN Office of Academic and Clinical Affairs (OACA).
The successful candidate will have a hybrid work schedule, reporting to the clinic as needed.
Type of position: Hybrid position; approximately 60-80% of the time will be in-person, and approximately 20-40% of the time being remote.
Planning and Administration (15%)
- Manage a strategic communications and marketing plan that supports CUHCC's strategic goals and objectives
- Supervises the Patient Engagement Specialist staff
- Manage grant-specific communications and marketing budgets
- Track and report reach, engagement and outcomes for all communications channels, using analytics to optimize performance
Digital Strategy (15%)
- Manage content on the CUHCC website, including creating and updating pages and layouts, and managing assets in the media library
- Manage CUHCC's social media presence (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube) and to create engaging content, scheduling posts, monitoring interactions, responding to comments, and analyzing social media performance metrics
- Manage content and production of e-newsletter(s); maintain newsletter contact list(s)
Marketing (35%)
- Write web copy, marketing emails, social media posts, and other various marketing-related content, ensuring brand consistency and messaging alignment
- Lead the production and coordination of promotional materials for patient, community and stakeholder audiences, such as invitations, fliers and announcements
- Design and coordinate print and digital advertising
- Create short videos using basic video editing tools (e.g. Canva, Animoto). Coordinate video production, as needed, with the OACA videographer
- Support CUHCC's departments through the production of signs, patient education materials, promotional flyers, etc
- Assist with planning and implementing special events on behalf of the clinic
Other Communications (10%)
- Coordinate press releases and media interviews with OACA communications
- Support fundraising activities through strategic communications
- Prepare award nominations for CUHCC and staff
Project Management (20%)
- Manage programs that enhance the clinic's ability to proactively respond to patient needs, such as patient advisory conversations and student workers serving as patient engagement specialists
- Plan, coordinate, and implement small-scale and time-limited projects assigned by CUHCC leadership
- Monitor the success of programs and report findings to clinic leadership
Other Job Duties as Assigned (5%)
- Assist with community and on-site events planning and implementation
- Assist with other clinic-wide initiatives as assigned
Qualifications
All required qualifications must be included in the application materials Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in any subject and two years of experience, or a combination of education and work experience to equal at least six years.
- Experiencing developing and implementing communications plans and tailoring content for specific audiences
- Experience developing, producing, and distributing marketing materials (print and digital)
- Experience with website and social media content management
- Strong project coordination, analytical aptitude, and problem-solving skills
- Able to initiate and manage tasks with minimal direction; excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to work in a quickly changing, resource-limited environment and ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines
- Demonstrated interest or experience working with diverse and multilingual communities

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working or volunteering in public health, healthcare, clinical, or nonprofit settings
- Experience leading focus groups, surveys, or other engagement activities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite products
- Familiarity and experience with Google Ads and Google Analytics
- Familiarity with disability compliance for government websites
- Familiarity with SmartSheet
- Experience with program development, management, and evaluation
- Bilingual in Spanish or Somali

Pay and Benefits
