Position Summary:

The Material Handler performs all shipping, material movement and receiving duties and confirms inventory levels and supports production functions as necessary. This job directly affects both internal and external customers. It also affects Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Quality goals of the division. Routine internal contacts may include, but not limited to Maintenance, Engineering, Quality, Logistics and Planning.

Must be able to work in warehouse conditions with long periods of standing, climbing, bending, walking, and reaching in wide temperature ranges. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Must be able to operate material handling equipment. Overtime may be required. The work is fast paced and must be able to work under pressure. Must be efficient in a diverse range of functions. Poor performance results in the involvement of the Group Leads, Departmental Managers and/or Director.

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  1. Pulls materials for scheduled production.
  2. May have to move finished goods from manufacturing to cold storage, shipping or disposal.
  3. Maintains warehouse and work areas following 5S principles.
  4. Receives and processes product from upstream logistics. Ensures parts are properly identified and labeled.
  5. Stocks product after approval for use in a manner to maintain 5S, inventory accuracy and safety.
  6. Pulls materials for orders as required ensuring manufacturing accuracy and efficiencies.
  7. Counts physical inventory of all raw materials and finished goods in the warehouses and coolers as required.
  8. Processes all required paperwork and software transactions to ensure the material transactions occur for all departmental activities.
  1. Work with the department management to assure compliance with ISO, FDA guidelines.
  2. Participates in audits.
  3. Follows all departmental and company safety policies.
  4. Continuously improve inventory accuracy, minimize inventory errors.
  5. Comply with all cGMP, ISO and FDA regulations for all warehouse activities.
  6. Performs other duties as required.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR THE JOB:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Knowledge of materials management and inventory accuracy principles.
  3. Knowledge of Kaizen and 5S principles.
  4. Computer knowledge.
  5. Good close vision and hand dexterity for computer usage.
  6. SAP experience preferred.
  7. Good written and verbal communication skills.
  8. Must have good interpersonal skills and the ability to work and communicate effectively with manager and others.
  9. Ability to use material handling equipment such as a floor jack, hand truck, order picker, and forklift.
  10. Ability to work on ladders.
  11. Ability to work on feet for long periods of time.
  12. Requires mental alertness and attention to detail.
  13. Ability to work effectively and efficiently with minimal supervision

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

  1. Should be knowledgeable of and willing to comply with FDA, cGMP and ISO regulations and procedures.
  2. Must be able to push a wheeled cage that can weigh up to 600 lbs fully loaded.
  3. Reasonable, reliable attendance and punctuality is an essential job function required for this position.
  4. Excellent personal hygiene required. Appropriate gowning requirements necessary for the production areas. Gloves are required to handle the product. Hairnet, clean room gowns and/or lab coats are required. Safety glasses and hearing protection are required personal protective gear.
