Primary Purpose:

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled SAP Senior Specialist - Procurement to lead and enhance our SAP ecosystem within the railroad industry. This role is critical in driving the successful implementation, optimization, and support of our SAP S/4HANA platform. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge across multiple SAP modules and the technical acumen to bridge the gap between business requirements and system capabilities. This position will be located at Norfolk Southern's headquarters in Atlanta.

As a key leader, you will align SAP capabilities-including S/4HANA, Fiori, and integrated modules (MM, SD, FI/CO, Ariba, Fieldglass)-with evolving business needs. You will drive the optimization of sourcing, vendor management, and materials management processes while shaping the SAP product vision, roadmap, and ensuring the delivery of measurable business value.

Principal Duties:



  • Act as the go-to expert for SAP S/4HANA, leading the design, configuration, and support of SAP MM and related procurement modules.
  • Gather business requirements and translate them into scalable SAP solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, test, and deploy SAP enhancements and integrations.
  • Optimize procurement workflows including RFQs, purchase orders, inventory management, and supplier performance tracking.
  • Coordinate with SAP developers for enhancements, interfaces, and reporting needs.
  • Provide ongoing support and troubleshooting for procurement-related SAP processes and systems.
  • Develop and maintain system documentation, user manuals, and training materials.
  • Train end-users across procurement functions in SAP best practices and process improvements.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for procurement process improvement initiatives across the enterprise.
  • Stay current on SAP best practices, emerging technologies, and new releases; assess their impact and applicability to the business.
  • Monitor and report on product performance, KPIs, and continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Champion user experience (UX) enhancements through Fiori apps, mobile access, and intuitive interface design.



Job Related Experience:



  • Minimum 5-7 years of hands-on experience in SAP, with at least 3 years in SAP S/4HANA.
  • Proven experience as a lead in SAP environments.



Education:



  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field.



Licenses / Certifications:



  • Required:None
  • Preferred:SAP S/4HANA certification(s) in functional or technical areas.



Skills and Abilities:



  • Required Skills:



    • Experience in configuring and supporting SAP MM, SRM, and/or Ariba modules.
    • Strong understanding of end-to-end business processes and how they are implemented in SAP.
    • Ability to translate complex business needs into clear, actionable SAP product requirements.
    • Strong project and time management skills in a fast-paced environment.
    • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.



  • Preferred Skills:


  • Experience working with mobile procurement tools, Fiori apps, or SAP Solution Manager.
  • Exposure to cloud, hybrid, or multi-system landscapes.
  • Knowledge of Agile delivery practices and DevOps in an SAP context
