Space Systems Engineer LOCATION: Los Angeles AFB, CA JOB STATUS: Full Time CLEARANCE: Top Secret clearance to start TRAVEL: up to 10% SALARY: $140K-$160K Astrion is seeking an experienced Space Systems Engineer to join the Global Mission Operations (GMO) Space Integration Branch within the Space Systems Integration Office (SSIO) at United States Space Force (USSF) Space Systems Command (SSC). Based at Los Angeles AFB, you'll play a critical role in advancing, integrating, and delivering system-of-systems space capabilities that support national security objectives. This is your opportunity to help define the future of space operations-shaping enterprise requirements, performing mission engineering, and driving integration across USSF mission portfolios. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
BS degree in STEM (Engineering, Physics, Earth Science, Mathematics, Operations Analysis, or related field). 8+ years of experience in the design, development, and deployment of space systems within the USSF or DoD mission space. Strong foundation in systems engineering, mission analysis, and system-of-systems integration. Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams of government, SETA, FFRDC, and contractor personnel. Proficiency in MS Office Suite; familiarity with JIRA/Confluence is a plus. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to brief complex technical topics to senior decision-makers. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. Willingness to travel up to 10%.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead the development and integration of cutting-edge space capabilities across current and future systems. Perform mission engineering analysis and evaluate Design Reference Missions for risks, gaps, and cross-domain opportunities. Conduct system-level capability reviews and recommend solutions to close mission-critical gaps. Support war room planning, capability epoch development, and kill chain assessments to inform enterprise decisions. Develop enterprise requirements and JCIDS documentation for high-priority space programs. Assess policy and technical drivers impacting system design, integration, and interoperability. Collaborate with SWAC, CSRO/S5R, and PEO offices to deliver integrated SATCOM, PNT, Missile Warning, TacISR, Launch, and BMC3 solutions. Prepare and present briefings, white papers, and strategic roadmaps to senior leadership.
