HX5 is currently seeking a Scientist or Engineer to support development of software to process test data collected at the Holloman High Speed Test Track (HHSTT) for the 846th Test Squadron (846TS) at Holloman Air Force Base near Alamogordo, New Mexico. The HHSTT is the world's premier rocket sled test facility, and the 846TS works with customers to design, develop, and execute rocket sled tests to simulate selected portions of the flight environment in support of the development of weapon systems and other flight hardware.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Apply advanced electrical design techniques for the development of new and unique sled instrumentation systems in harsh environments with limited space.
  • Conceive and formulate modular instrumentation designs to reduce design and build-up time despite unique sled designs.
  • Devise and evaluate criteria, parameters, characteristics, and interrelationships for design approaches and to assess the impact of new technology on current systems and processes.
  • Demonstrate technical engineering experience in the development, fielding, and sustainment of hardware for test and evaluation instrumentation systems.

Education and Experience:

Must have the following education and experience:

  • Technical or Scientific Degree from an accredited school.
  • Requires a working knowledge of MATLAB software.
  • Requires knowledge of circuit design and electrical loads analysis.
  • Requires working knowledge of experimental techniques with emphasis on data acquisition, data validation/analysis and data presentation.
  • Must possess the ability to quickly understand customers' overall technical objectives and mission and provide effective solutions.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position requiring 40 hours per week and offers a flexible work schedule Monday through Friday during core business hours.

Other Position Requirements:

  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position.
  • Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain a Secret clearance within six (6) months of start date.
  • Must be able to travel, including air travel.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment while being able to prioritize work to balance multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal skills.
