The Engineer provides fleet support to the Aircraft on Ground Engineering Team that specializes in investigating complex aircraft and component issues, developing customized engineering solutions (EA, M-EA), and ensuring regulatory compliance. This role collaborates with Maintenance Teams, Manufacturers, and Regulators to minimize operational disruptions, optimize fleet performance, and uphold safety and reliability standards, with Safety as the top priority. This Engineer will provide technical support for all scheduled and unscheduled maintenance within the disciplines of Avionics, Interiors, Mechanical Systems, and Structures, and this support is throughout all levels of maintenance from aircraft acquisition, aircraft on ground (AOG), line maintenance, intermediate maintenance, heavy maintenance, and aircraft retirement/lease return. This Engineer is a self-starter who's excited to join our Technical Operations Department and work in a dynamic environment where they'll have the opportunity to continually learn and grow in their expertise on our all-Boeing 737 fleet.

Responsibilities
- Evaluate and process manufacturer's service documents (Service Bulletins, Service Letters, etc.), regulatory requirements (Airworthiness Directives, Notice of Proposed Rule Making, Code of Federal Regulations, etc.)
- Develop and substantiate in-house repairs and modifications for implementation into the SWA maintenance program
- Develop and substantiate reliability improvements through research, root-cause analysis, and implementation through corrective action plans
- Collaborate with other departments such as Planning, Supply Chain, Quality, Production and other Stakeholders for assigned projects to develop project implementation plans
- Troubleshoot and resolve in-service issues
- Perform activities related to various types of cost/benefit analysis
- Develop Engineering documentation to support resolution of in-service issues
- Participate in and coordinate activities related to OEM, Supplemental Type Certificate Holder, and PMA products
- May perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Leaders
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of FAR's with a strong emphasis on Part 25 requirements and Part 121 operations
- Knowledge of Computer-Aided Design (CAD)
- Knowledge of technical data and mechanical operations
- Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology, including applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various airline support services
- Skilled in collecting, organizing, visualizing, and assimilating technical data in preparation for written response to SWA Leadership or regulatory authorities
- Skilled in common business computer applications
- Skilled in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems
- Skilled in communicating effectively inside and outside the engineering organization
- Ability to seek opportunities and assignments which stimulate thought and provide challenges to develop and grow professionally
- Ability to work under tight time constraints to accomplish assignments and projects
Education
- Required: High School Diploma or GED
Experience
- Intermediate level experience, fully functioning broad knowledge in:
- Airline/OEM/MRO engineering
- Preferred: Experience with Microsoft Office and CAD
Physical Abilities
- Ability to perform work duties from [limited space work station/desk/office area] for extended periods of time
- Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
- Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job
Other Qualifications
- Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines
- Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines
Pay & Benefits: Competitive market salary from $91,250.00 per year to $101,400.00 per year* depending on qualifications and experience.
