Job Title: Product Owner

Location: Remote- This role may be performed in any state in the U.S.

What you'll do:

Working in Supplemental and Intervention Solutions on the Waggle Product Management & Strategy team, the Product Owner will participate in cross-functional product development teams to develop and enhance Waggle, HMH's K-8 ELA and Math supplemental adaptive practice program. This includes, but is not limited to, the following activities:

  • Contribute to Agile product development team as Product Owner, attending and participating in Scrum ceremonies
  • Act as a proxy for the customer, understanding their needs and translating business strategy into actionable tasks and clear communication with the team(s)
  • Implement project deliverables and prioritize work based on changing requirements to manage active Sprints, the backlog, and to support delivery of high-quality products on schedule that meet customer needs
  • Craft clear User Stories equipped with Acceptance Criteria and Definition of Done elements in conjunction with the development teams that align with business goals and timelines and accept completed work.
  • Engage with the development team to create prototypes and/or wireframes for new functions or features for validation with existing and/or prospective customers
  • Determine feature priority and incremental development and delivery plans through Lean/Agile Product framework. This includes direct customer interactions, field visits, collaboration Marketing, Research, and other key stakeholders.
  • Responsible for business alignment sign-off of features prior to production release.
  • Liaise between project teams and internal stakeholders (e.g., engineering PO, editorial/learning experience design, UI, UX, marketing, research, QA, etc) to collect and synthesize feedback, manage/align project schedules, and motivate team
  • Work collaboratively across the organization to design, implement, and test features
  • Collaborate with project managers, product managers, and product development to share processes and increase integration of best practices across teams
  • Perform risk assessments and analyses to prioritize and make trade offs to ensure on time project completion while maintaining educational integrity of products.
  • Proactively communicate with internal and external stakeholders at all levels including project documentation, follow up, and status reports to ensure on time deliveries
  • Support development team through release and create release documentation to ensure clear communication with stakeholders

What you'll need:

  • 2+ years participating in or managing cross-functional product development teams
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Knowledge of K-8 education technology market, user experience (students and educators), and classroom needs
  • Agile Methodology Experience to support the scrum team throughout iterations and attend Sprint Planning and Sprint Review sessions.
  • Proficient in managing and prioritizing the product backlog and being present in Backlog Refinement meetings
  • Experience with project management tools (e.g. JIRA, Smartsheet, etc)
  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Innovative team player with the ability to solve problems proactively and creatively
  • Passion for creating innovative technology solutions for students and teachers
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite

Preferred but not necessary: skills/education/experience/working knowledge

  • Teaching experience at the K-12 level
  • Comfort understanding and simplifying technical flows for general understanding
  • Experience working across global time zone

Salary: $88K - $100K
