Associate Network Solutions Engineer

How You Will Contribute:

Reporting to Senior Manager, as an Associate Network Solution Engineer (Software Systems), you will be responsible for the planning, implementation and execution for deployment of Ciena's portfolio of Software Systems. You'll work in partnership with Sales Engineering, Account teams and the customer to ensure the lifecycle of customer's software engagement is executed from conception to final solution.

• You will contribute to the development of software deployment plans for customer network architecture and interoperability, ensuring the functionality and security of equipment and determining efficient equipment configurations suitable for customers and stakeholder requirements.
• You will assist in preparing implementation plans based on designs provided by stakeholders in support of deployments of the proposed improvements and modifications
• You will collaborate with the customer on troubleshooting, installation and implementation with dedicated servers and Ciena Software Systems, remotely or in restricted, secure environment.
• You will provide weekly updates to varying internal and external contract team members, including Ciena PM's and Engineers.

The Must Haves:

• Must be US Citizen.
• Security Clearance - Secret
• Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Networking, or similar technical field of study coupled with proven experience in Linux, Linux security (STIGs/CIS), shell scripting and various scripting languages (PERL, Python, etc...)
• Able to install and administer Linux OS, Docker, Kubernetes onsite and in the cloud.
• Support software security and conformance testing.
• Knowledge in automation/DevOps tools.
• Proficiency with "Office" software applications including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Ability to work in a team environment and escalate when necessary to supervisors.
• Demonstrates an analytical approach to problem solving.
• Ability to adapt continuously to learn and progress in knowledge base.
• Security+ or any equivalent DoD 8570 (8140) (IAT Level II or higher).
• Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time.

Assets:

• Current or prior experience/knowledge of the Ciena Product family.
• Python, JSON, Ansible or Chef and Puppet
• Knowledge and experience with Layer-2 and 3.

Pay Range:

The annual pay range for this position is $73,200 - $116,900.
