Position Summary:
Synergy is seeking aBusiness Intelligence Analystto join our growing team supporting the United States Coast Guard (USCG) at the Aviation Logistics Center's Information Systems Division (ALC-ISD). The Business Intelligence Analyst will focus on transforming data into actionable insights that enable precise configuration tracking, change control, and system performance visibility.
This position is critical in delivering comprehensive dashboards, analytics, and data models to support enterprise application sustainment, hardware/software inventory monitoring, and integration with asset management systems.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable dashboards, cubes, and reporting frameworks using IBM Cognos (Framework Manager, Report Studio) and SAS (DI Studio, Base SAS).
  • Develop and manage historical and near-real-time data repositories supporting configuration management, lifecycle tracking, and software versioning across deployed environments.
  • Implement and optimize data integration interfaces that consolidate logistics, inventory, and system configuration records from source systems into centralized analytical models.
  • Apply data validation, normalization, and transformation techniques to ensure master data integrity and alignment with configuration baselines.
  • Support the development and enhancement of BI solutions used to visualize CMDB elements, track deployment activities, and manage component version history.
  • Collaborate with Configuration Managers, software developers, and cybersecurity specialists to align reporting outputs with RMF, STIG, and Section 508 compliance.
  • Participate in Agile DevSecOps workflows, refining dashboard epics, user stories, and tasks while tracking progress through Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket.
  • Conduct data analysis to identify trends, anomalies, and performance issues; present findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Support data migration, data archival, and audit preparation activities related to Authorization to Operate (ATO) and Configuration Control Board (CCB) functions.
  • Assist in documenting metadata definitions, ERDs, and data dictionaries that support system-of-record governance.
  • All other duties as assigned by management.
Skills/Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated expertise in IBM Cognos (Framework Manager, Report Studio, Transformer, Event Studio) and SAS DI/Base SAS for enterprise analytics.
  • Strong understanding of relational database systems (Oracle, Ingres, SQL) and their integration within software/hardware configuration environments.
  • Experience with data architecture, data pipelines, and ETL processes supporting logistics and enterprise application datasets.
  • Familiarity with CMDB principles, lifecycle data tracking, and asset dependency modeling.
  • Skilled in documenting data dictionaries, ERDs, and integrating data governance into DevSecOps workflows.
  • Experience applying Section 508 compliance to dashboards and reports.
  • Exposure to cloud-based data analytics (Azure, AWS) is highly desirable.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with an ability to translate complex data findings into business recommendations.
Education/Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Computer Science, Math, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field. Two (2) years of experience is equivalent to one (1) year of education.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in data analytics and functional and technical business experience.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in an Agile DevSecOps software and engineering environment and methodologies.
  • At least one (1) year of experience with Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience creating testing scripts and automation frameworks for cloud-based architectures.
Clearance:
  • U.S. citizenship required
  • Must have or be eligible to obtain a Position of Public Trust or DoD Secret Clearance.
Certification Requirement:
  • CompTIA Security+
  • Additional certifications (e.g., Network+, AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, Certified Business Intelligence Professional (CBIP), or ITIL Foundation) are a plus.

Compensation for roles at Synergy varies depending on a wide variety of factors including but not limited to the requirements of the role; education and certifications; knowledge, training, skills and abilities; level of experience; geographic location; and alignment with market data, law, and other business and organizational needs. As required by local law, the posted pay range represents the lowest to the highest pay that Synergy believes in good faith it might pay for this particular job, depending on the circumstances. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
