JOB SUMMARY
Works under the direct supervision of the Cardiac Testing Manager. Provides technical leadership for cardiac testing activities (Sonographers, Nurses and Exercise Physiologist). Partner with respective Cardiology clinic supervisors (CSA and RN) when dealing with issues and workflows of testing activities. Daily communication and reporting to Cardiac Testing Manager regarding operational concerns pertaining to cardiac testing.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Required
- Education
Graduate of an accredited Sonography program with an Associate's degree.
- Experience
5 years Cardiovascular sonography experience.
Additional experience may be considered in lieu of education.
- Licenses and Certifications
Current Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonography licensure Upon Hire and
(BLS) BASIC LIFE SUPPORT Certification course accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC). Upon Hire

JOB DUTIES
- Assists with the planning, coordination, and scheduling of technical aspects of cardiac sonography services. Coordinates the technologists and their work assignments to ensure proper distribution of workload. Ensures adequate staffing by submitting a monthly schedule/call coverage to the manager and ensures adequate utilization of equipment.
- Ensures technical competency of all technologists with oversight in the operation. Ensures all technical staff are capable of operating all equipment to consistently produce quality imaging. Establishes safety policies with manager. Obtains and processes studies, transmits studies uploads studies to Xcelera. Ensures quality of images and data integrity in Xcelera. Ensures continuity of sonographic methods and procedures.
- Establishes and standardizes technical operational protocols and procedures. Assists with establishing technical research protocols & processes. Makes policy recommendations within scope of responsibility.
- Spends at least 75% of time in the clinical setting performing procedures. Assists with coordination of schedule for add-on echo patients and emergency procedures. Maintains study turnover time at or below set standards.
- Ensures a neat, clean and safe environment; and, performs quality control testing as needed. Ensures all equipment is in proper working order, notifies Biomed for PMs, reports defective and malfunctioning equipment as needed and scheduling down time. Works with Manager regarding documentation of all reports and suggested or requested actions.
- Responsible for establishing and maintaining technical supply par levels. Recommends the procurement of supplies and equipment.
- Provides guidance to all cardiac sonography technologists and provides advice and solutions to work problems. Plans, coordinates and participates in all in-service educational training of technologists.
- Coordinates efforts to apply for and to maintain Echocardiography Lab Accreditation.
- Provides timely reports for manager, as needed, on section operations, volume of examinations, productivity, operational problems, QA meetings, for ICAEL, etc.
- Responsible for identifying issues and initiating technical performance improvement measures; identifying and resolving technical and operational issues.
- Attends at least 80% of scheduled staff meetings and 100% of mandatory educational sessions. Displays adaptability, flexibility, creativity, priority setting and assistance to all staff, management and physicians.
- Responsible for the training and orientation of all new technical employees and technical students. Provide education and utilize resources. Provides input for job performance evaluations.
- Duties performed may include one or more of the following core functions: a) Directly interacting with or caring for patients; b) Directly interacting with or caring for human-subjects research participants; c) Regularly maintaining, modifying, releasing or similarly affecting patient records (including patient financial records); or d) Regularly maintaining, modifying, releasing or similarly affecting human-subjects research records.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
