Where you will work:

This position offers a hybrid work option (up to 50% remote) and is open to any Compeer office location in Illinois, Minnesota and Wisconsin, with the preferred office location being Lakeville, MN.

The contributions you will make:

This position is a senior enterprise leader responsible for shaping and advancing Compeer Financials' long-term growth strategy. The Vice President of Strategy and Business Development leads the development of enterprise and business unit strategies, drives the organization's innovation and business development agenda, and informs investment and partnership decisions that position Compeer for the future.

Reporting directly to Compeer's Head of Strategy, this role partners closely with the Executive Leadership Team and functional leaders to identify growth opportunities, translate vision into action, and build alignment around the strategic direction of the organization. The role also co-leads the enterprise-wide strategic planning process, ensuring that priorities are grounded in market insights and financial performance. In addition to driving strategy, this leader provides direct management for a portion of the Strategy & Business Development team - helping develop high-performing talent, build team capabilities, and establish strong systems, tools, and operating rhythms.

A typical day:



  • Leads development of enterprise and business unit strategies aligned to long-term goals and market opportunities.
  • Translates strategic vision into actionable roadmaps and investment priorities.
  • Guides evaluation and due diligence of new growth platforms, partnerships, and investments.
  • Oversees the innovation portfolio and supports the development of new ventures and offerings.
  • Synthesizes external trends and internal insights to inform enterprise decision-making.
  • Aligns strategic priorities with performance management, budgeting, and resource allocation processes.
  • Collaborates with Finance, Credit, and Marketing to link market dynamics with strategic and financial risks/opportunities.
  • Crafts compelling narratives and executive materials for the Executive Leadership Team and Board.
  • Represents the Strategy & Business Development team in enterprise forums and external engagements.
  • Leads, coaches and develops a high-performing Strategy and Business Development team.
  • Promotes a culture of collaboration, excellence, and ownership across the team and function.


The skills and experience we prefer you have:



  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, economics, or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job. MBA, preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in strategy, innovation, or corporate development.
  • Minimum of 7 years in a general management or profit and loss owning role required.
  • Expertise in evaluating new markets, business models, investments, and partnerships.
  • Strong executive presence and communication skills; credible with the Executive Leadership and Board.
  • Skilled in innovation pipeline development, venture opportunity assessment, and commercial strategy.
  • Demonstrated ability to build, coach, and lead high-performing teams.
  • Strong business judgment and ability to translate complex trends into actionable insight.
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity, leading through complexity, and driving alignment across functions.
  • Knowledge of agriculture, food systems, or rural finance markets is preferred.

The actual title and base pay offered is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role is eligible for variable compensation and other benefits.

$164,400 - $251,000 USD
