Description

As a Mechanical Designer, you will provide on-site engineering and support, collaborating with a team of engineers and designers with diverse backgrounds and experience levels. This is an exciting opportunity to gain engineering design experience and advance your knowledge in plumbing, fire protection and HVAC design.

Conduct design review and commissioning services for plumbing, fire sprinkler, and HVAC systems. Duties include review of designs and submittals; verification of as-built and redline drawings; construction surveys and inspections; development and partial witnessing of pre-functional checklists; and development and executing functional performance tests.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:



  • Review of designs will include evaluating whether the designer has met the owner's intent based on contract serviceability, maintainability, and operability requirements, that the designer has adhered to all applicable building codes, and assess whether systems and components are adequately sized for owner/tenant identified requirements.
  • Use BIM systems and drafting software to produce engineered drawings.
  • Provide technical assistance to develop statements of work for projects related to all aspects of the built environment for building owner and stakeholders
  • Apply fundamental engineering principles to create efficient, practical solutions to design challenges that are not addressed by the straightforward application of existing protection codes and standards.
  • Use code and accepted engineering practices to size waste & vent, natural gas, and domestic plumbing systems.
  • Use specialized software to perform hydraulic calculations for the sizing of fire sprinkler systems.
  • Perform HVAC load calculations and assist with equipment selection.
  • Meet client and customer needs and expectations by completing assigned tasks in the time allotted, and effectively communicating with project team members, clients, customers, and others. Compose technical letters and reports to address specific technical concepts as may be needed by assigned tasks.


Qualifications

1-3 years' experience to include the design of plumbing, fire sprinkler, and HVAC systems.

Excellent communication (verbal and written) and customer service skills.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time 40-hour position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Hours may periodically include nights and weekends and overtime may be requested as determined by the needs of the department.

Travel:

Frequent local travel expected for this position. Valid driver's license and clean driving record is required
